2017 resolution

The jellyfish is back! It is the last hour of 2016, and thus I shall reflect something on the year, and make some new resolutions for the new year 2017. =D --- So to look at back 2016... What do I like about the year? 1. The GPA is great! Well, at least for me I am satisfied. =D 2. Finally got officially attached with SH. ^^ <3 3. Had some exchange experience in NUS! 4. Had decent internship experience at DSO! I did not do fantastically, but it is still decent. :) 5. Many nice dates with SH and many nice outings with War / WL / JM! =D 6. Found a job! --- What is not that great? 1. Jeff could be more romantic, seriously. =/ 2. Should have exercised more! Didn't eat too much, but still maybe go run more / gym more. 3. Still never go for enough cycling trips. -.- 4. Should have enjoyed myself more. 2016 was a super busy year for studying. --- Resolutions for 2017! 1. To finish my FYP properly. Yup, Jeff needs that. 2. To do full-time work properly! 3. G

(2:44) Maybe it's not my weekend, but it's gonna be my year! I'm so sick of watching all the minutes pass as I go nowhere~! This is my reaction --- to everything I fear ---! Cause I've been going~ crazy I don't want to waste another minute HERE!! =D

Tree traversal

"After guy D said the wrong thing, he kena left right center by everyboody." If we look at this from a tree perspective, it means everybody is doing a post order traversal on guy D. Ok that's random haha bye. =P

Y4S1 end of week 13

The jellyfish is back! It's been a long time since I made a post, due to the somewhat busy school life, mixed with a lot of random stuff~~ So it's the finally the end of week 13, and as usual, the start of a less intense life during the semester. =) For this semester, I have read some basic readings for the FYP, done a small exercise using a debugger, enjoyed learning the CZ2001 course and had a rough (but worth it) time for the Neural Networks course. Along the way, I also managed to read the MAS434 module with SH (<3), revised some C++ with Marcus' floods of phone calls and questions. =P I thought that Y4S1 would be a rather relaxing semester since there are only 2 modules, but apparently not really. It seems to be more hectic than Y3S1, but definitely better than Y3S2. ^^ ~~~ MATLAB TA Today also marks the last day of being a MATLAB TA. Overall it has been a fun module, easy to learn and stuff. Every sem, I will tell myself to give less hints as compared to t

Y3 Dean List

The jellyfish is back! Ok, so apparently I got into the SPMS Dean's List for AY15/16... Yay? That was simply unexpected... So here are the graded mods I took in year 3: CE1003 - Intro to com thinking (3AU, A+) CZ1005 - Digital Logic (3AU, A) CE1007 - Data Structures (3AU, A+) ES8006 - Environment Sustainability (3AU, A-) MH3101 - Complex Analysis (4AU, A-) MH3512 - Stochastic Processes (4AU, A) MH3700 - Numerical Analysis 1 (3AU, A) MH4311 - Cryptography (4AU, A-) MH4920 - Supervised Independent Study 1 (4AU, A+) That's a YGPA of 4.82. Hmm ok, so 4.82 is eligible for Dean's List. Not bad I guess? =P Is getting into the list a very good thing? I see many people trying to aim for this achievement... Is there a cash voucher or something? O_O

SOH outing - WL 24th birthday

Image
The jellyfish is back! A post on SOH celebrating WL's 24th birthday, which in all the guys opinions, epic. =P That celebration was planned to be a surprise for him, and luckily it turned out well. =) So anyway, the parts which WL didn't know are in another colour. So the events are still in chronological order. Here goes then! :) Date: 24th July 2016  Present: WL, Jeff, YL, Nat, ZY, Jian Hui (JH), Tiff (Tiffany) ============================== 1. The difficulty of the photograph Ok, so after telling Nat how much effort WL put into her 21st birthday last year, how he came down to NTU (after my Friday complex lec) just to quality check the screenshot and printing the photo out, I think she was touched and decided to do an even more special one for him.  So one of the major parts will be to design a card for WL, with him as the root of the tree, and other people (mostly the guild) being the branches. Each person will be represented by a photo, with an attached

SOH June 2016 outing

Image
The jellyfish is back! =D This post is a little late, but I guess that's fine! Posting a bit about birthday celebrations and SOH guild outing. :) 1. Birthday stuff 2. SOH guild outing =================================== 1. 24th birthday! :) 1st June (Wed) Ok, so 1st June was a normal day at DSO. Simple meals with SH (<3), interns (^^) and parents (:D). 2nd June (Thur) Had dinner with War, JM and Tean. Tean came a bit late as he was doing some stuff in Chinatown and he rushed over to JE (woah thanks so much haha). War is also doing intern near JE, something about correcting slides and language of various uni mods, most engineering. JM has just finished intern at the milk powder factory. :) Anyway, we had a simple dinner at JE Saizeria. Ate mushroom and broccoli pasta, simply delicious. Random chat about school life, intern life, and how Jeff asked SH to be his gf. I realised I also had a simple dinner with JM and War too for last year's birthday. Anyways thank

Outreach chat

The jellyfish is back~ Today, one of the DSO HR outreach person came to out intern's room for some chatting. A chat of reality... But it does set me thinking about my student life, all the way from sec school until now. I remember last time in school when there were excursions, visits and trips (regardless whether they are in holiday or school time), I will always be quite excited to go. A break from school work, to visit places, a chance to walk around somewhere new, learn something which could never be found on books. Learning trips are always fun, you can look forward to something new at the start (and probably regret it later if it is really boring). :) But here's the thing, a simple person like me would thought of it as something interesting, nothing else. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This week Yuan Hao is not free to check on my work as he is one of the in-charge for this "World of Science" week, a mini lesson/event that is supposed to attract "smart k

Jeff 24th birthday

The jellyfish is back! Today is the 1st of June, another year has passed. =) For the past few years, I went out for dinner with friends. This year, I worked in the day, and ate with my family. Simple dinner (although with better dishes) and a cake. So for today... Breakfast, eat with SH (my gf liao haha) <3 Lunch, eat with the interns. Thanks ppl for the birthday wishes ^_^ Dinner, eat with my parents. Simple dinner at the coffeeshop :) Just when work gets super tough and I feel like giving up, nothing is more heartwarming than eating with your loved ones. They will be your mental support through the tough times. :)  Oh yeah, today the intern couple Si Kai and Ana bought a small Starbucks cake (hazelnut, chocolate and cookie crumble) and gave me while I was working on the programming stuff. I was really touched, thank u SK and Ana. :D And on that note, happy 24th birthday Jeff~ :)

NUS results

NUS SMS service can be rather cool... Here are my grades, all happily converted to a pass grade!  MA3233 (Graph Theory): B+ MA4207 (Mathematical Logic): A- MA4261 (Coding and Cryptography): A- Not bad! Jeff is very satisfied. ^_^

Python and Anaconda

So here is a joke-of-the-day which I made yesterday at DSO. =P For those who have touched programming before, you would have known that Python is a programming language. Interpreted language, rather cool, easy to learn for  beginners. So my work requires me to use Python as a language. So Yuan Hao was nice enough to help me find some python libraries/packages that could help me with my work. :) YH: Hey Jeff, can you help me search for Anaconda? Jeff: (Wth is Anaconda?) Oh ok... (Uses Bing: Found pictures of snakes and Nicki Minaj's Anaconda) This can't be correct ya? Why would YH want songs? (Jeff inputs: "Python Anaconda", clicks images. Full of snakes.) YH: Jeff are you done? (Looks at the snakes) LOL not this anaconda! (Jeff was damn embarrassed >.<) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So this is what Anaconda (programming) really is: Anaconda is a Python package list. It has many scientific packages that can be used for computations. Below is a link. h

Y3S2 1 finals down!

The jellyfish is back! Today is the 1st finals, Graph Theory in NUS. Not bad, think I did quite decent. Not fantastic, but at least it's pass-able, with chances of getting a B+ ^_^ That's also the 1st time I did finals in a tutorial room. Normally NTU holds its exams in big halls like Nanyang Audi, sports hall, etc. This cosy tutorial room (for set theory) lets everybody panic together in a more packed manner. But it's very fast, 4 minutes after 7pm, everybody is released. I like the efficiency. XD Talked with ZH a bit on whatsapp. Well he is official with his girl liao (which is great!), and here I am still stuck... ~_~ Ok Jeff, it is about time you stop dragging and just ask. Anyways, I also learnt that there is something called credit exchange ratio. Apparently 20MC in NUS = 18AU in NTU. Does anybody know about this, cos I certainly don't know~! >.< Alright, that's the end of a short post. Tomorrow morning still got a 2.5hrs coding & cryptograph

Y3S2 teaching weeks cleared!

The jellyfish is back! =) It's finally the end of Y3S2, the end of a most pass-fail but busiest semester (among the 6). It's a wonder how I passed through the semester, given the work piles every week like crazy. So overall, well done Jeff, you have finally finished and it's time to enjoy with only 2 graded finals out of 6. =) ~~~~~ It's also the end of teaching basic programming (MATLAB and C++) to the year 1 in SPMS. I must say it is an enjoyable experience (and the lesson I look the most forward to) in the whole year. I think I learned much more as a TA than as a student. XD Well that kinda makes sense. When I am studying as a student, dunno can just heck care. If I don't know as a TA, means cannot explain to somewhere, and that is a problem ya? =P If there is a chance to teach MATLAB (MH1401) and C++ (MH1402) again next year, I will take it. =D To the year 1 (esp. the physics ppl) who come to the Friday lab even though almost nobody comes, thank you fo

Last lesson in NUS

Today, the last lesson (set theory) in NUS is over. The next time I see the school. it means it's finals. XD Oh, today crashed WL sociology lecture. Very boring. The part I caught which is funny is that don't try to rephrase quotes if you do not understand what is is trying to say, as this shows you don't know what you are doing. =P I think WL got himself a girl, they even had the same laptop design (couple laptop, aw so cute)!!! =P Forgot what's her name. Is it Ying Jie or something? Here's wishing him all the best, it's time he got 1 anyway. ------------- I didn't know you like me too, it must be difficult to say it ya? Same here, I am shy too. =) Haha random lolz~ ~~~~~~~~~ Here's wishing everyone all the best for their upcoming finals! 6 here!

alternative word for cheers

"godspeed" Word introduced by WL, still puzzles me~~~ Anyway his NL turned lvl 200 yesterday. XD

Week 5-5 in Y3S2

The jellyfish is back!!! Happy belated CNY to everybody, tonight I got a bit of time, so thought I would post something. :) 5 weeks of the semester have passed, and I think it is one of the busiest ones, but doesn't pass quickly, as usual for me. I remembered WJ said something about people who go to school regularly won't find time passing as fast as those who constantly skip. Haha probably that's why I find it slow ya? =P ------ Hmm get away with the sad and boring stuff first: Out of the 8 mods, 7 got midterms!!! T.T I still remembered Y3S1 was good, only 3 midterms (I don't count quizzes)! So for Y3S2: Week 7 NTU: Physics and Environment Week 7 NUS: Crypto Week 8: Data structure Week 9: Numerical and set theory Graph theory: Still unknown which week, it better not be 9! So good luck to me ya? Thankfully only 3 of them are graded! Advantage of Independent study, no midterm. =P ------ Today is a nice Friday, where for the past so many weeks, I found t

Week 3-3 in Y3S2

The jellyfish is back! =D It's week 3, and it is already tiring with the damn many mods >.< But well it will be good to post something since I don't feel like doing anything now haha. =D ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ok now it's 28AUs for me! NUS MA3233: Combinatorics and Graphs 2 [4MC] MA4207: Mathematical Logic [4MC] MA4261: Coding and Cryptography [4MC] NTU MH3700: Numerical Analysis 1 [3AU] MH4920: Supervised Independent Study 1 [4AU] ES8006: Environmental Sustainability [3AU] CE1007: Data Structures [3AU] PH1802: Foundations of Physics 2 [3AU] 28AU, 15AU pass fail, 13 graded! 4th May 2016 will be judgement day! #3finalsIn1Day #2ndFinalsNUS ------------ NUS has been rather cool. - I have visited various canteens (Sci, Engine, Arts, UTown). More to come! Both are good in their ways. The science canteen wanton noodles stall damn cheap and nice. Dumping noodles (big) + 1 egg + mushrooms = $3.20! Wow! :D The snack stall sells some great waffles too. UTown

1st week of Y3S2 and 2016 resolution

The jellyfish is back! :) Today marks the end of the 1st week of Y3S2. New timetable, new mods, and a whole new experience in NUS. Hope it goes well! =D So this semester... I am taking many mods! 4 in NTU, 3 i NUS. That's the equivalent of 25AU in NTU. So to anyone who is reading this post and is from NTU, wish me some luck! =D NUS: Graph Theory, Set Theory, Coding Theory NTU: Numerical, Data Structures, Environment, Independent study Well the first two days in NUS were ok... Got lost a bit, especially in the science buildings, but still alright. The study content esp. set theory can be confusing at times. ~.~ ---------- Anyway, I shall reflect something from 2015, and put some new (and hopefully more realistic goals) for 2016. =) What I like about 2015 1. The results are awesome! Especially the programming ones! 2. Spending time in all the nice outings with War/WL, and also with SH =) 3. Finally finished URECA project decently! =D 4. Relieved some memories in Ma
