SOH outing - WL 24th birthday
The jellyfish is back! A post on SOH celebrating WL's 24th birthday, which in all the guys opinions, epic. =P That celebration was planned to be a surprise for him, and luckily it turned out well. =) So anyway, the parts which WL didn't know are in another colour. So the events are still in chronological order. Here goes then! :)
Wonder if he will ever use it. Probably he may bring it to the exam hall for his socio exams, who knows.
3. Everyone goes to write card at Starbucks.
So the actual meetup time is 3pm, and those who are supposed to write cards should reach Plaza Sing Starbucks at 2pm, which of course nobody did. Who the hell needs 1 hour to write a message? I reached at approx 2.35pm, saw Tiffany wearing a SPMS T-shirt (she is studying chem), wrote my message and the end. The card is amazingly big! The first question I asked was how is WL gonna bring that home, and the answer was that he had to carry that by hand. =P YL came afterwards, and wrote his message too.
The funny part comes when JH was telling the group that he met WL on the train, and apparently WL wanted to go to the Plaza Sing Starbucks for some coffee, and everyone was like omg wtf~ Thankfully JH diverted WL to the Cathay Starbucks instead. So no movement was needed. :)

4. The singing at the hotel
Ok so me and YL arrived first at Teo Heng. So just sang some random chinese songs, and remind myself how good YL sings. At around 3.20pm, WL and JH arrived. 5 minutes later, Nat and Tiff arrived. So JH and Tiff being guests, they were holding on to the mics for a longer period of time. Mostly CL songs, far lesser EL ones compared to the June guild outing.
As the DSO internship was quite tiring, I also dun really have the mood to sing. (If not for WL celebration I would have pon the outing) So I lepak one corner while listening to the rest sing. I don't think WL used the mic at all, I guess that's because JH Tiff and YL were like using the mic to sing those high pitch songs.
YL's singing is nice, high and sweet. ^_^ JH's singing is simply intense. Tiff got a lower voice than JH, and her singing was intense too. It was so intense until there was a point I couldn't take it anymore (when both JH and Tiff were singing a particular song) and simply walked out of the room for some ear peace. >.< I do not have a good voice myself, but that level is really... unique. Well, good attempt anyway~!
So halfway through the singing sessions, Nat and Tiff went to get the small mango cake for WL, while the guys stayed in the room to sing. After that, they came back to give the card and the small cake for WL. So WL happily ate the mango cake, admired(?) the card, and thought that would be all for the celebration. Ok at least that's what Nat hoped for. The exciting part is at the end. :D
ZY arrived at around 5pm, and sang his favourite Fireflies. I also promised Nat that the next singing session after June, I will know how to sing TaeYang's Wedding Dress. Since Jeff happily thought that it cannot be the case that 2 consecutive guild outings will be a singing session, then ya lor, Gambler's Fallacy, Jeff only know how to sing the chorus. ~.~ I should probably go understand the song and sing it. =P
After 3 hours of the singing session, everyone's ears took a break. =) It was raining slightly. Everyone was protecting the card at all costs. WL can melt in the rain, but not the card. XD
5. Dinner at Astons
Lime chicken, baked potato and mac/cheese for Jeff. Ok so basically WL Nat Tiff and JH were talking about Maple (they play a lot), then me ZY and YL were like talking about com sci stuff and the real life Maple event. Apparently there was an event where people could go and buy an in-game medal for $30(?). I didn't know the maple item is so good until it is worth to spend money like that. If I would to spend $30, it will be for huskies, and probably some fabulous items for it. XD
Nearing the end of the dinner, Tiff said she needed to get something and went off first. Nat also offered to help her, and so asked the guys to have some dessert while waiting. WL was like "wah full liao how to eat".
The rest of the guys started to worry whether WL could actually have another cake... O_O
6. Bingsu dessert
So the girls went to get the items needed for WL's celebration, the candles, the lighter, the bigger cake, etc. While the guys just stalled time, making sure WL doesn't anyhow move to other places.
For dessert, the guys just ate at the Bingsu shop (Kokomama) in SOTA, the same place where Dadadidadi had dessert in internship week 5. Ordered this Yoghurt Fruity Flair, shared between 5 guys. Quite nice, the jelly is very chewy. The portion is decent. I think SH will like this too. =P
So we looked at WL's card properly. Wow those people must have spent a lot of effort on this! And there you have WL smiling as the root of the tree. Privileged user. =P

1. The difficulty of the photograph
Ok, so after telling Nat how much effort WL put into her 21st birthday last year, how he came down to NTU (after my Friday complex lec) just to quality check the screenshot and printing the photo out, I think she was touched and decided to do an even more special one for him.
So one of the major parts will be to design a card for WL, with him as the root of the tree, and other people (mostly the guild) being the branches. Each person will be represented by a photo, with an attached speech bubble containing the birthday wishes. Those who are absent also has a space there.
That sounds like an easy task, but getting WL's photo proved to be ridiculously difficult! WL's facebook account only got a few photos of himself, most of them are group photos, and the rest are either blurred or he is giving the -.- look. Those obviously won't look nice, and thus a desperate Nat asked me for WL's photo, which I also don't have (even after 7.5 years of knowing this guy).
Method 1: Asking WL's bro for help.
So the easiest method is to ask Wen Jun (WJ), WL's younger bro for help. Apparently he couldn't find any nice photos of WL immediately, and thus an alternative method is needed.
Method 2: Taking WL photos directly.
So 2 days before WL's celebration, me, War and WL had dinner at Swensen's. So I took this chance to take photos of him. Well he was half-guessing that I was taking photos, but didn't say anything about it. I didn't ask him to pose for the camera anyway, just took it when I think the moment is correct. I hate this task lol. In the end I got like 22 photos of him, which only 2 are suitable for the card. The rest are all just comical. XD
So since method 2 works. WL's photo is complete. The rest of the people just submitted any photo of themselves. I cropped out my own pic from a group photo taken from the Energiser medic standby pose. Not very nice, but then I have no looks. So any photo wouldn't be nice @_@
2. WL's gifts
So besides a card, Nat planned to buy a gift for WL. That is again another difficult task, as WL practically doesn't really fancy anything. Some suggestions included formal clothes, tie, cologne... Ok thankfully we didn't buy the cologne, WL disliked it. But who knows maybe in future he will like it. =P
So with the lack of suggestions, and nobody is volunteering to buy the present, the group present was kinda skipped. I bought him a Pusheen pencil case (it was so cute omg!) 1.5 hours before the actual meetup time.

The only thing he inferred was that the specs frame is exactly the same, and thus it must be quite recent. That was a nice guess! Shortly after, WJ replied, with a photo of WL. Although it's too late to put in the card, this photo made everyone laugh. XD

"After ZY finishes poly, he will kannaNS. If he AWOL, he will kannaDB." Ok that was a very anyhow example, but that sort of continued all the way from the ice-cream to the end of the night. =) Before we left, a group photo was taken, with WL's card of course.
