Dong Fen outing - Happy series

The jellyfish is back! ^^

Another bright and beautiful Saturday after the 2nd week of relief teaching, and hey, it's another outing with WL and War! This time, PH is not with us but not because we forgot about him, it's just that he has ORD-ed on Friday, and thus enjoying himself on an awesome trip to Japan! Here's wishing him a safe flight and a well-deserved holiday. :D

** Flashback **

1/3 (After A lvl results, WL absent, in pizza hut)

War: So tomorrow go Uni open house?
Jeff: Yep, but I need to check which one available first. Not all open tomorrow.
War: Oo. Haix sian, got another buffet coming up.
Jeff: Sia la. Good what!
War: Nah... I've been like eating 1 buffet every month, until I sian of buffet already.

(The next day, 2/3, after knowing that uni visits are cancelled)

War: Want watch movie?
Jeff: Ok ah. JCube???

(A while later)

War's SMS: Wl wan seoul garden
Jeff: HAHA LOL! That sort of add in another piece to War's buffet collection! XD
(I don't think WL knows this, so I can't say he purposely did that to War ya? =P)

=====

So yup, posting about the Clementi Seoul Garden meetup, which is rather short. Yea, finally after so many months, we followed this plan and cleared this thing that's taking up memory space in WL's brain! =D Apparently our initial plans were to visit NUS/NTU/SUTD, but somehow the open house for the mentioned 3 are at later dates or in the case of SUTD, require an access ticket. o.o The origin of this sudden Seoul Garden plan can be said to be rather abrupt, and a surprising decision for me, and to War, haix~ =P

=====

So at a very auspicious 3pm, we met up and before we could proceed to the shopping mall for a walk, WL had to wait for his NSmen (mistaken WL for 3SG) to come and collect an important document. While wears 1 in a smart casual (rather professional looking for clerk), the other wears as if he just came back from playing basketball. To make up for all the lost time, WL received a red egg! :D [And gave it to me, which I forgot to return him back]

While War is questioning about the time of meeting, I started to wonder on why SUTD requires registration if it's supposed to be an open house. In the end, it turned out that the registration is just for the sake of participating in the lucky draw and perhaps getting a free goodie bag as a thank you souvenir. Not believing in such low probabilities of winning, War shared his experience on winning a 1GB thumbdrive out of thousands, and seemed very happy about it. That's awesome! But still doesn't mean why we can't visit SUTD, so yea, ODNS attend an open house for the lucky draw. =P

Before the meal, we went to a few shops to kill time as War thought that it's not an appropriate timing to eat lunch/dinner during teabreak. Comics Connection in Clementi is somewhat smaller compared to other shops, and I think has nothing much, other than the awesomely cute animal erasers (except the black panthers). Next up was Popular, which I bought my required stationeries while WL is amazed by his Scream City and Panda foolscap papers and War asking on the presence of Samsung tablets being sold in Popular.

NTUC at its finest~! Well, this NTUC sells some of the things which some other NTUCs do not sell, like chocolate beverage powder, funny random candies/confectioneries and things you would usually see in Cold Storage. Other than that, it's nothing much.

1615: Dinner

WL: "Walao, this timing eat buffet, not too early, not too late..."
Jeff: "Yep that's correct! It's just nice!" :D

The computer menu seems to be a messed up, as there were a lot of things which aren't supposed to be on that page of the menu, appeared mysteriously, which confused me for quite awhile. (E.g. meat and vegetables appearing on the noodles page). Not a really huge variety of food compared to Sakura, but hey at least the food quality is not bad, including the ones which we have to cook ourselves. This time, War and WL didn't make a big mess out of things, so the whole dinner was rather neat. :)

For almost every outing, there must be something special (sorta) that day to keep everyone entertained, and this time, it's a not-so-popular carbo item: Dong Fen! There must be an affinity between WL and Dong Fen, as he had a lot of interest in that item, and kept on ordering that item from the start to the end of the whole buffet. Just imagine, Dong Fen as an appetizer, a main dish, side dishes, and even during dessert (I'm not kidding!) Most of the bowls came to me (6/7 bowls) even though I'm not a fan of that dish, so just to give WL face, I ate them with some accompanying mushrooms and green vegetables. Ugh, not going to try them again.

The service is rather quick. In just a few short minutes after we ordered the items we want, the waiters came up and combine whatever they can into a few plates for us to cook in the soup / heat. The cocktail sausages we ordered from the start seem to be MIA all the way till the end. All the flavours tasted the same to War (all satay).

Food I tried :)

1. Mini cakes and kuehs. (Normal, not a too strong flavour though)
2. Fried chicken fillet (Delicious! Really hot and crispy!)
3. sausages (normal)
4. shitake mushrooms, button mushrooms, other mushrooms (better heated up than cooked)
5. Chicken (no diff from other BBQ places, didnt eat a lot though)
6. Fish (tasteless)
7. ice-cream, with random cornflakes, rainbow rice, toppings. 5 flavours, and I can say it tasted normal too.

WL spammed a lot of mint ice-cream, probably he wanted to prevent overspilling. =P

---------

Anyhow things we talked about~ More like I'm lazy to elaborate much. :D

Jeff: Imagine if I put the red egg inside the soup and then the waiter comes.
WL/War: O_O
*Waiter: Hey, you guys must have like Taylor Swift songs a lot*
*WL/War: O_O Why?*
*Waiter: Cos your soup is RED!*

I didn't know Jedward is twins... Cos they looked way too alike! Ah oh well, that's double trouble for you. [Wen Long vs When Long]

War proudly announced that his phone has another 60 Beatle songs! That's just like saying that he got another 3/4 of Avril songs with a flick of his fingers. I can say that it's very scary to be finding another chunk of old songs when almost nobody appreciates them, sadly.

After comparing scores of A lvl results from this year and to WL's score, War felt that WL should be going up to stage. Which is quite true luh, can get most improved award if not for the Superb in Geog. =P

How WL feels about the people who went up to stage (from 09S16):

Jeffery: He is born smart.
ZK: He put in a lot of effort, he deserved it.
Jeff: -.-

War asked about Melvin (RT dept) and asked if his results were really superb, and about his family. Well, I can say that his results are not exactly elite (about the same as mine rite!), but he will get the attention from his sad life story. (no sign of sadness during dinner though) But yea, to Melvin, the whole RT dept is proud of you! =D One thing is for sure, he should stop singing Taylor Swift songs, he doubled the irritating factor. =/

-----------

After dinner, War and WL decided to buy Koi (SOP), passing by Gong Cha which surprisingly has quite a lot of people! I didn't buy any kind of tea, while the Koh bros indulged themselves with a cup or 2. Current tea points as follows:

PH: 5
WL: 4.5 (3+1.5)
Jeff: 5 (3+2)
War: 3 (2+1)

------------

While waiting for Koi to be ready, WL started to show off the shininess (?) of his coins and the years being minted. Well, some coins seemed to be really shiny and old, to the extent that the coins are effectively older than us. The level of respect has to be present, so conveniently, in a very uniformed NSF style...

"Whole lot greet Encik coin, 1,2!"

I remembered someone saying before that as long as the person's rank is superior compared to yours, and he/she is an NCO, you have to greet Encik/Maam for Police/CD. You get the idea. War and WL seemed VERY amused by this way of thinking. XD

That's about it for the outing. Before ending this post, here's a super inspirational quote which I found it totally useless to me but it may seem motivational to the others. :)

Indeed A Level exam is harsh; it filters the best from the rest. Despite putting tremendous hard work, it might not bear fruits. Yes, it is a risk. While it has perished some into deep sorrow, it has produced its own successful stories. Stories that neither money or drama could produce. Today walking past the newspaper vendor, I have seen Pioneers making the headlines. Well done guys, especially those Kairos students, you have made the college proud! Rock on PJC!

 - Gary, head of HR in PAC (Not Pac-Man, he does not go about =V at dots)

That should be Melvin making the headlines. I like the part about the tremendous hard work and not bearing fruits/results. Seriously, hard work shows that you are a diligent person, but doesn't mean that you have the ability to cope and to think how to solve a problem that is of a different nature, or in a metaphorical way, working hard is no different from a robot. Work work work, but when spoil then jialat. Agree right? =P

Understanding, not the most important word, but definitely one of the more important skills to master. With that, concludes another anyhow post. XD
