Day 4: Gold Coast Day

Ah, the beautiful Gold Coast where many people would recommend to go. =P The main reason why we go there though (and only for 1 day), is because War wanted to visit a theme park.

Behold, the Warner Bros Movie World Theme park, with its roller coaster tracks. >.< So this theme park features quite movies / shows under its brand name, include a variety of DC characters, cartoons, etc. Even though there the attraction opens at 9.30am, most of the rides are only available after 10am. We took the time to take random photos of vehicles, statues, etc.

A sibei cool looking Batcar.

WL mentioned that a lot of our photos could contain nice figures with random people inside. The theme park has quite a few meet-and-greet sessions throughout the day.

Omg Green Lantern! <3 If only he could draw out a photo frame haha. =P Other characters such as Flash, Wonder Woman, etc. are available too! We saw their photo-posing at least twice that day.

~~~
The first ride we took was the Scooby Doo ride. WL and myself are not fans of roller coasters, so we were quite hesitant on taking the ride. War convinced us that Scooby Doo was for kids, so it shouldn't be scary and all. o_O --- Ok lor~ YOLO right? =P
So off we went, with the slightly spooky music and all to make everyone in the mood. The ride car that departed from the boarding area looked really fast! So for a person who don't like roller coaster, this is how the ride is like. [The video is taken from someone else who went for the ride too]
~~~ Scary isn't it? ~~~

Ok the riders in the video look really happy. =P For our ride, the lights were completely turned off. So most of the time we actually didn't see what was going on~ Or maybe it's because I was just hanging on to the railings and not caring what was around~

I remembered after going through many curved turns, there were some girls screaming and that led me to think: "are the turns really that scary, how come they all screaming like that ah?". About 10 seconds later, ok that makes sense. It's kinda fast at the steep drop. -_-

The rating of the Scooby Doo ride. Wa basket the height and the speed, is really a roller coaster speed sia. Anyway we checked out the theme park map, and indeed it was a thrill ride (as opposed to a kid's ride). Ah... Ok that's 1 proper roller coaster cleared in my life! Achievement unintentionally unlocked? XD

~~~
While War and PH decided to go for more rides, WL and myself settled for some Ben and Jerry ice-cream. 3 flavours, how nice! They took a roadrunner (?) ride and a Justice League Laser Ride. Neither of them are as fast as the Scooby Doo ride, but the designs do look cool. :D
The theme park has a small section that shows the costumes / figures used in the DC movies. A quiet area with a limited number of people inside at any time. Feels more like a museum.
Shazam costumes. Look damn nice.
Saw this too. Imagine if companies have this at their lobby. =P We had a buffet lunch in the theme park for 24 AUD (excluding drinks). They offer a decent variety of food, including Italian, Indian, Chinese, salad bar, etc. Everyone was satisfied by the food, and finally there were some vegetables! One of the rare times WL ate healthily haha. =P
Split into the same two subgroups after lunch. Amazingly, both subgroups went to watch a vehicle show, just that they are slightly different. War and PH went to watch a really exciting vehicle stunt show. Large audiences there looking at professionals... =P
While WL and myself stayed in the opposite spectrum watching small kids in a "driving school" ride. Never gonna take any rides if they are the drivers~
~~~~~

Kind of interesting gift shops, though some may be a bit pricey.

Harry Potter shop, with its figurines, plushies, collectibles. The shopping bag is actually beautiful and costs AUD 1.50. Worth it to get one home. :)

Scooby Doo merchandise.

Justice League items. The DC items tend to get more attention as compared to other series. Bought a green lantern shirt for myself. =P

We visited the wild west region too, where there is a water ride (with a very steep drop) and other small attractions too. Insane drop, didn't ride it. =P Over there WL and PH got a metal tag for their partner / brother's partner. How nice. ^^

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We left the theme park at 3.30pm to see some areas of Gold Coast. Helensvale station is really convenient as it offered direct bus services to the theme park, and had a Gold Coast light transit to the beach and other areas.
Gold Coast stations are on the same level with the normal roads. No overhead tracks / underground digging needed. Brisbane's subway systems do place a lot of trust into people, even the Gold Coast rail had just a tap out machine and no barriers for passengers.
The wind is VERY strong though. After coming out of the train, my cap flew off to about 5m away. -_- Cooling + strong wind -> Jacket for WL.
This area is called Surfer's Paradise, and it is pretty easy to see why! The wind is even stronger in this unblocked area, and you can see that the waves are larger than the ones in SG. We originally wanted to go down to the sand area to have a feel of the waves, but the sand is simply blowing in the wind. >.< Didn't see many surfers though lolol.
Think the area name is the same name as one of Cody Simpson's album (ah good songs and good memories). Apparently this guy is an Australian who is from Gold Coast! Perhaps that's where the inspiration comes from? Hmm. Shall leave one of his tracks here, in case you wanna listen and read on the rest of the post. :D
With WL covering himself with a thick hoodie, and the hurried pace of everyone staying away from the beach, we reached the shopping area of Surfer's Paradise.
It is still a relatively quiet area, with wide passageways and some traditional(?) buildings. Perhaps Gold Coast is heavily attracting tourists and keeping all these buildings as a heritage requirement. The things there are about the same price as the ones in Brisbane, though we managed to find Tim Tams at $2.50 AUD. PH was very pleased with that discovery. =P
Everyone is kind of tired after a long day walk. We headed back to Brisbane in the early evening to prepare for the following day's domestic flight. :D A bit wasted as I wanted to visit Gold Coast a bit more, but guess that could be left as an Exercise for the future!
