Day 5: From Brisbane to Sydney

The 2nd half of the trip is to Sydney, not only to look at the famous opera house and harbour bridge, but also for WL to visit his friend who is staying there.

We planned to leave the accommodation facility at 7am, which left me a nice 100 minutes for a Brisbane morning walk. To where? The botanical gardens. :D

That is the place which me and PH had visited on the 2nd day where the Sunday market was held. However we didn't fully explore this place as we wanted to visit another market. The 5+ morning air was rather cold at about 17 degrees. Unlike the classic Botanical Gardens at other countries, this one doesn't really have a large variety of flowers, but definitely has a lot of greenery and is very peaceful. Some joggers were doing their morning runs in this beautiful area. :D

An area with more flowers.

A part of the Brisbane river at 6am. Serenade. You can even hear the birds chirping clearly. Imagine sitting here having a nice breakfast and enjoying the view with the one you love. <3 Sharing 2 more photos before going out of the gardens.

Nice maple-leaf coloured tree.

Purple flowers, but on the ground.

Surprisingly there is a morning market on a Wednesday. Most of the stalls were still setting up though, as their opening hours were from 8am. Bought 2 small packets of macadamia nuts before leaving the place. Very friendly owner --- She had many different flavours of nuts, and ensured that I really like the flavour before buying them.

~~~
We took the domestic flight with Qantas Airlines. Australia must be very proud of this airline as Qantas had about 1 whole area by itself for travellers to check-in~! Not many people in the early morning, very smooth check-in. =P
Our domestic plane. Damn nice. <3
Qantas gave a plum cake, and a cup of orange juice. The cake is very delicious! Small chunks of sweet plum, and a cake that is not too sweet. <3
~~~

We landed in Sydney at about 12+ (GMT+9). An hour faster than Brisbane. Maybe it's just me, but I found it slightly unnatural that 1.5 hours flight could lead to a time difference. =P Perhaps that is the property of a continent?

We bought 4 commute tickets and took the subway. Unlike a lot of subway trains, Sydney subway trains are of a double decker nature! After entering the door, one may choose to go to the upper or lower level. Damn cool.

We met the accommodation host who briefed us on the house rules. A very interesting point he made was that Sydney subway can be very expensive since it is owned by a private operator, and the government has no say as they cannot afford the subway. O_O

Ok luh, our trip from the airport to Town Hall station although only a few stops, cost 17+ AUD (more expensive that then Brisbane subway). =/

~~~
After a short rest, we went to walk around Sydney's Chinatown. As compared to Brisbane, this area has much more people [especially non-Australians]. Just feels like how Orchard / Bugis would be like on probably a weekday evening. Cuisines in the area are not limited to only Chinese food. Jap, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese food can all be found.
An anime shop in Sydney. Quite a number of items for anime fans. =D
~~~

Having some time before dinner, we went to see the famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge located right beside Circular Quay station. [The ride costs $3.61 AUD for only a few stops >.<] Many pictures were taken. =P

This view was taken after walking through a building. Closer to the bridge.

F4 shadow picture <3 Let us take 5 seconds to appreciate how tall PH is. =P

~~~
It's around 5+ and everybody suggested to get dinner. WL's friend had not contacted him and thus he followed us to have dinner. War wanted to eat rice, and so we went to a Chinese steamboat restaurant.
With 3 people, the soup-based was half-priced in addition to the individual entrance fee. The food was free flow, and we got a free herbal tea can drink, rice and fruits. No extra charges if there is no food wastage. The lady was asking why WL didn't want to have dinner, and tried to convince him to have a meal (attempt failed many times). The food is kind of nice, the chicken soup is rather tasty and the meat is great.
Seeing is not believing, and this applies to some of the food items. This is a fishcake btw. =P
War took one of this, thinking that it's plain you tiao~ In the end there was some fish paste inside. End up I eat. -_- That item + soaked in soup -> Simply disgusting. Neutralised the taste by eating that with the juicy oranges and green grapes. The fruits are extremely nice. :D
~~~

WL's friend still did not contact him even after the dinner. It turns out that his dinner was postponed due to last minute events. T.T The last few activities were dedicated to walking around an Asian supermarket and getting WL's dinner. There is this building with Paddy's Haymarket at the basement, with the market closing at 6pm, but the supermarket closing at a later time.

Lmao ok, anyone fancy some Singapore drinks lolol~?

WL didn't want to take up any of our time by waiting for him to eat, so he thought of taking away some food. Being a secret KFC addict, he chose that for his dinner option. =P

An interesting fact is that Australia's KFC does not have a crispy version of chicken. Everything is just original. I guess that the crispy version is made to suit Singaporeans' tastebuds. Hmm.

Deepfake. <3 No la, think this was designed intentionally. XD

And on that happy note, we walked back to our accommodation facility with some bright lights along the road. Although the Australian culture is that shops would close early, apparently the Asian shops would close later than usual, something like 8+ or 9. The Korean restaurant near our area closes after midnight.

Had a good rest, while WL nom-nom his chicken. ^^ We had some re-organization of Sydney's timetable, and sorting out of clothes for washing. On this happy note, shall end the memory writing about the transition day here~ :D
