Day 6: Aquarium Scenery Day

A decent sleep on the sofa signals a bright and beautiful Thursday morning in Sydney. Unlike the early sunrise in Brisbane, the sun rises at about 6+. Woke up early to find directions to various places and enjoy the morning.

The 1st period of this lovely day starts off with PH and myself exploring the Royal Botanical Gardens, located in the middle of the cluster of buildings in the area. Not too cold outside~

The Royal Botanic Gardens has slightly lesser trees, but has a much larger variety of flowers as compared to the Brisbane version. This this is considered a "normal" garden for most people. =P This garden has 2 main levels (upper deck, lower deck). The upper contains flower beds, statues and gathering points. The lower contains some shops, planting area and a really nice water view.

Surprisingly there wasn't many people at 8am --- The whole place is kind of quiet. We managed to see some parrots, ducks, storks, etc. Hmm. I am not sure if we visited the whole area as we turned back at the water point. Vaguely remembered PH saying that we missed something that was damn nice. Ah oh well. T.T

Overall the place is great for a walk! If you have the chance to visit Sydney, spare an early morning to view the plants. Good for the eyes, but take note of the flies. =P

After the garden walk and a wrap breakfast, the entire F4 set off to the SEALIFE aquarium near Darling Harbour. Sydney has this 4-attractions combo, where 3 of them are either situated at the location or requires a ferry transport, and the 4th one is the Sydney Tower Eye. We chose the aquarium as the first attraction.

1st area of the aquarium: The tropical fishes, sea urchins, octopus, etc. They also have some small board activities (spot the octopus) for kids to play. :) Just like all other SEALIFE aquariums on Earth, they are also actively discouraging the use of straws to reduce the amount of water pollution and harm to the sea creatures.

WL agrees too. =P

2nd area of the aquarium. We walked a rather long downslope to this underwater area. Some of the larger creatures can be seen (e.g. stingray), good for people to see how is it like underneath.

Trimmed video of a swimming stingray. Beautiful right? =P

3rd area of the aquarium (non air-con). This is back on the ground level. The area hosts some marine shows, and shows some of the life aspects of dugongs. The coin souvenir looks very nice, to which me and War got one each. XD

Side note: The machine only accepts 5-AUD notes. Surprisingly 4 people only had 1 of such note in total~ War was damn nice to insert his only 5-AUD note to let me choose a coin. Wa sibei ps, I went all the way to the gift shop (that's some distance away!) to get a few more notes. WL accompanied and provided great help in the process [shall not put details here]. =P War chose a very nice dugong coin. :D

The 4th area is a big-tank area with large creatures such as sharks. War and PH said that the area is not too big, but the creatures are nice. Me and WL didn't see this as we were running along the path to/from the gift shop.

The 5th area consists of non-fish(?) creatures. Ok I ran out of a nice general heading to describe this place, but this one has starfish, jellyfish, penguins. Damn nice. <3 The starfish texture is kinda rough, but it is definitely safe to touch at the non-sensitive areas.

An interesting thing is that the area offers a boat-ride in the penguin living environment (6 deg C). Free-of-charge too! :D

I think WL made a GIF of War's Koh cold action. XD

I clearly remember Busan SEALIFE aquarium having this too. =P

The last area... Ok I don't know how to describe it, but it seems like many people are gathering there to chill. We sat in front of an exhibit showcasing a turtle and other creatures. The turtle is damn nice, you can almost feel the strong field of wisdom aura <3

~~~~~~~~~~~~
After lunch at a nearby outdoor restaurant, we visited some shops in the vicinity, and then proceeded to the NSW Art Gallery. There was a small Japanese festival(?) held in that period. A nice architecture design with a horse statue in front. Bags are not allowed to be brought into the area.
The bottom right line is hilarious. =P
One of the area holds a place where people can write well wishes and then paste them on the wall. There is like a tons of post-it notes written in all kinds of languages. Very interesting. :D
This note is perhaps the most heartwarming thing in the entire trip. <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At about 4pm, War and WL went back to the accommodation for some rest. PH and myself went to Paddy's Haymarket for a walk. Bought some items and snacks, and also bought a black shirt for WL to thank him for organizing / maintaining everyone's welfare in the trip. :D

The arcade is kinda cool! It is a Timezone arcade, but it has extra things such as bumper cars, hologram activities and is sort of bigger than the ones in SG.

The Haymarket has a market area. Things are slightly cheaper?

The place to buy souvenirs and nuts at a cheap price! :D The only thing is that the place closes at 6pm. =/

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
8pm: WL's dinner with his friend got postponed again... PH and myself were feeling kinda sorry for WL, so we let WL chose the dinner spot without any objections. Ended up eating DTF~~ The taste is just like SG, not much difference. =P
It's getting a bit late, but we wanted to see the night view of the Opera House. Off to Circular Quay again! The metro services still operate, and the prices are cheaper due to the non-peak period (2.52 instead of 3.61 AUD).
Quite a lot of people for a Thursday night, especially the drinking area that is on the pathway to the Opera House. There were tons of seagulls on that night! At first PH thought that those were drones as they were kinda visible from the top of the bridge. We ruled that out as the "drones" were very silent and none of them seem to be colliding with one another~
Ah, the night view. A pity we didn't go in as the area was closing (no more performances?). Looks kind of grand inside though! A really peaceful scene.
Behind the Opera House was a sea view area. It was really really dark, and extremely quiet. Though not as interesting as looking at the beautiful architectures of Sydney, we spent close to 20 minutes just looking at the sea. There were also some people on the floating harbour that is quite near to our area. It's not everyday you get to see such a view, hearing sea sounds in the dark night.
[And that was when I realise, I am not the only sad person...]
Reached back the accommodation facility at 10.45pm. Sharing a picture of the night purple flowers, ending the memories of the 2nd last night in Australia. :)
