PJ paradise

The jellyfish is back!

After getting A lvl results 2 years ago, I don't think I have visited PJ other than the time I accompanied War to get his testimonial. Since PJ had an open house, why not take the time to visit, appreciate the changes, and relieve the good times in the past! ^^

So yep! Posting about the trip to PJ, and the mini-dinner the night before! ^^

===========================================

11/1 (Fri)

War is going to ORD soon, and basically he should be counting down everyday while enjoying life in camp. ^^

NOT without clearing the New Zealand trip! =P

Proceeded straight to Jcube after work, and since it was rather early, why not chill awhile at JRL? ^^ It must be a long time since I have went to the library on weekdays, when there is not many people and kids shouting and screaming about like a crazy lunatic. Borrowed a book about pasta, which the pictures look like a delicious dish, and a Chinese book that is random like an unknown chance. JRL displayed an exhibition about the past libraries, openings, closings, Orchard Lib, and also mobile libraries! You can borrow a book when the mobile library is at your carpark, how cool is that! =P

Standard practice: To look at the ice-skaters while waiting for the rest to arrive. I realised some very young kids can skate REALLY fast, like the professional crew! Do they plan to be ice-skaters as their future ambition? Not many people though, and nothing really interesting happened. =/ Nearing to the auspicious 7pm, War and WL arrived! When I mean auspicious, I meant that it was raining super heavily, like a stormy day! Cold weather + Cold ice skating rink  = Chilly like a winter day!

Once again, choice of dinner is answered by 'anythings' and 'sui bians' from the undecisive duo (not me), and I was all in to dine at Kung Fu Paradise again! =P

What WL suggested: Dynasty Paradise, the expensive one. (3 mini egg tarts for $4.91 after add. charges)
What War suggested: The pasta place, which I forgot the name.

Somebody suggested Mac, which was full-house. Thankfully we didn't go there, or I would order the grilled chicken salad again. So since nobody had any good suggestions, I got my wish! ^^

Rather crowded for a Friday night, and somehow we got ourselves a front seat, which is supposed to be a 6-seater, but being split for us and a young couple who chose the same auspicious dining place for candleless-light dinner. I must have took a very long time to decide between custard pau, french toast and a burger, as WL and War had lots of episodes in disturbing each other.

My dinner: Shroomin' salad and 3 custard pau with molten salted yolk! Apparently my choice of dishes seemed to be the most unique / special in most F4 outings (PH being forgotten sometimes) as the 1st expression from War and WL were O_O. Comments by them?

War: Sia la, eat vegetables can eat until full siol.
WL: (Totally disgusted by the vegetables, but still nom-nomed one piece)

Sort of agree with War, they must have gave a super large serving of salad and mushrooms until I can actually do without the pau! After eating the vegetables, I am sorta almost full, and realised that there was still a large serving of mushorom. For $6.90++ for that salad, worth it! Nobody dared to try the custard salted yolk bun... I can say that it's a great combination! The way to eat that a bit like Xiao Long Pau, suck out the custard and slowly enjoy the pau, except that it's without meat! ^^ That would 1 of my repeat orders in future! That is if the duo wants to patronise there again. =P

War ordered Jap curry with chicken cutlet which suspiciously resembles Ishi Mura taste and style, perhaps that's the standard operating procedure for cooking that dish. Oh, along with crispy wedges and nacho cheese sauce, another super large serving! ^^ Needless to say, about 1/3 was being taken by me as War was unable to finish his meal. (See la eat my salad somemore =P)

Kung Fu Paradise should pride themselves on their drinks being served in a nicely shaped plastic cup, or whatever they call it, ice teas, iced water, fruit juice specialities, etc. The designs on the menu are rather nice and appeal to the consumers to try a cup or two! =D

That is, however, limited to the common drinks, and apparently A&W is definitely not one of them! Just like how a person is salty like a summer day, WL's A&W is awesomely canned like in a coffeeshop! They simply give you the can, and give you the cup of ice, and yea, pour it yourself. :)

Somehow the split table contributed to a repeated problem, wrong orders. Apparently whatever the couple ordered was directed to us, and thus the waiters/waitresses failed totally when they presented the orders confidently to us.

Waitress: "So I repeat your order, egg and sausage noodles, baked rice, etc, etc, is that correct Sir?"
War: "This is totally wrong, we didn't order any of this."
Waitress: "Oh is it?" (Starts to panic internally and wondered where did the order came from)
Lovely couple: Oh er... I think that's our order...

There was one particularly nasty dish which was rather revolting, to the point where I almost shouted: "Who the hell would order this!?" The guy looked kinda happy to eat the dish and share it with his gf! As I always say, love is blind~

Otherwise, nothing interesting really happened! Talked about War going to NZ, his slack times, Gameboy Color, DS, etc... And yeah! Doors and Rooms! WL is giving off a master aura when observing War struggling with Stage 5-2. Like a pro seh.

WL: "We, are never, ever, ever, getting back together!" Chilli's down, KungFu Paradise down, not many choices left in JCube ya? =/

---

After dinner, we walked around Jcube for awhile before heading home. Mainly Challenger, and Koi! Interesting items~

Laser: Apparently you can point to stars with this device, such unidirectional ray is awesome!
Earpiece: My current earpiece is 1-side down, but it's still functional! perhaps I should get 1 soon! :)
Reversi on GPS: Yep, won. =P
Whack the virtual old man?: WL kept on whacking the old guy but gets miserable points... Maybe I am too pissed off by the elderly abusing the ambulance too frequently, until my way of whacking in a short time resulted in a rank promotion in the game! Good job!

For a moment, we thought that Apple was a fan of Old songs (Much to War's delights), only to realise that the whole folder is empty! As how War's bunkmates would describe old songs: "Wah! Si bei hao ting ah!" :D

That sorta concludes the dinner!

================================================

12/1 (Sat)

Reliving the old days: PJ Open House trip! Featuring the guy with a cap who is not supposed to be recognizable! Taking the chance of an open house to visit the school is seriously an awesome thing to do! 4 hours of looking back at the good times, recalling whether did we remember the random nonsense that happened and appreciating the differences and younger generations. How fun is it! ^^

-----

So since it was supposed to be a trip down to memory lane, why not make it real and do it all again? ^^ With this clear mindset in mind, War spent 0 hesitation points in suggesting eating KFC for breakfast at Lot 1, just like what we did during the holidays when we studied (play and waste time in WL / PH definition) in fast food restaurants! Blueberry pancakes with eggs and hashbrown, a great start for the day. :)

It must be an extremely long time since I have rode on bus 190, 975 or 985! Memories of jamming up the buses everyday and the 6 consecutive buses of 190 came flowing through my mind~ Ah, passing by the CC reminded me of the 1.5 hrs lunch break every friday, and thus F4 would auspiciously proceed to eat Mac, and a special treat of twister fries during CNY! ^^

Just like the 2 years studying time, I mixed up the position of that steep staircase and turned the wrong way for like almost the 500th time or something. The long pavement between the traffic light and PJ didn't change a lot, so nothing interesting happened, except that there was a half nude jogger resting at the junction, probably showing off his failed abs. Oh! Apparently being Urban Geog students, we would definitely remember Miss Leong's words on building a nightclub on the grass patch beside TWPS. Well, it did not happen, but rather a new HDB building stood proudly in the already small space, blocking a significant area of fresh air. =/

Stepping into PJ's concourse invited a warm welcome by the Ambassador Clubbers! War and me must have looks like 16-years old, cos by the way they asked us about the school, it seems like we gave a 'we know nuthin' about PJ'. Ah, the sense of guilt in cheating their feelings is overpowering me, but one does not deny that they have done an excellent job in making people feel at home. ^^ Oh, did I mention WL also gave his warmest welcome? Shall give an example of greeting of Ambassador vs WL.

Ambassador: Would you like to know more about the school? We can give you more info which you may have not heard of! ^^

WL: The Cafe open sia!!! (Points to the cafe in great smiles an excitement) You see!!!

Oh ya, they gave out a sneaker figurine and a survey form as welcome gifts! Such heartwarming friendliness given by PJ students! =P (cough WL)

We must be the only alumnis who went back without being invited... "I knew you were trouble when you walk in..."

--

Before our main tour around the school starts, we must always ask ourselves: "what is a walk down memory lane if we miss out the common things we did?" Some may not care about this statement, but certainly not War as he marched ceremoniously into the 2nd storey toilet and shit without thinking twice. Good job! As for me, I filled up my water bottle with the same old water cooler, which surprisingly didn't give cold water, just like 2 years+ ago! (ironically) PJ ah, are you low on budget to fix the water cooler!?

--

Area 1 (The learning blocks: LTs, classrooms, labs, cabins, PE area)

S16 classroom: F3-40!! Apparently the painting of parts of the College's creed / school song in conjunction with PJC 10th anniversary (oh god, what an irritating phrase) is being removed! WL is sorta disappointed that the class effort including his own is wasted just like that, but felt better when me and War kindly reminded him that it was mostly Jeffery's effort, unless you count S16 Cyclops' power as a helpful contribution. =/

Apparently there's a secret room (not seen before) near F3-40 that is being used to put chairs and random nonsense. Not sure if it's new but apparently nobody noticed that room for 2 years! The cabin classrooms (not in the woods) and labs still look the same, ah the memorable times when we counted down for hot-dogs and doing stupid experiments for no damn of reason. =P

Moving on to something a bit more physical for the healthy hearts~ The chin-up bar which War broke is finally fixed! Improvements are definitely evident as War returned his 10-in-a-row chin-ups to WL in the hot sun as he lost the bet that WL couldn't do chin-ups. (WL must be like 30+ kg at that point of time)  Completed without assistance, awesome! Still remembered when War was so scared to enlist early that he pulled at every bar he saw, and slowly did 4 on his own after a rather long time. Today, he can do 10, you see luh, Ah boy to Men siol! [Totally not recognised by the Ambassadors though] More importantly, ORD lo! ^^ Oh, there's a big fake field which replaced the real grassy one!

Taking a break from the look-around, we proceeded to the canteen to rest for awhile, and hey, the chicken rice aunty asked how am I and why did I come back to PJ! I'm not sure whether she did really remember or just said this to every alumni, but hey, that's cool! :) Now there is a larger variety from her stall, just as roasted pork and duck rice. Well, I must say that during JC, I missed the chicken cutlet rice with extra egg an tomatoes! It's simply awesome for just $2.40! ^^ A pity I missed buying that day as it was sold out before 1.30pm. =(

Bought peanut waffles, and somehow sat at the same auspicious table which we sat in the mornings to slack, talk about life and relax before morning assembly. ^^ (Hides the truth about me furiously copying WL's maths homework and War MIA to the toilet) The peanut waffles is just as cold like the ones 2 years ago, someone should seriously donate a heater to that stall! WL drank a bottle of blueberry tea, and insisted that it was nice, just as before. :)

--

Area 2: The concourse and the library!

Perhaps I am seriously not proud of my CCA, thus all the clubs and societies booths at the concourse didn't appeal to me in the slightest bit. The crowded one should be perhaps chess, where a lot of people are Playing Chinese Chess~ Luckily nobody recognised me over there, or else it would be weird if I said that I won the Interhouse games at Reversi instead of Chinese Chess, and Ace's team got thrashed by us. =P

The songs played were not bad though! Most songs are just Serenade songs, so it sorta gives everybody a pleasant mood while touring around the concourse. While enjoying the awesome song playlist, I got myself a vanilla ice-cream for dessert, with yet another person recognising me: The Cafe aunty! Apparently they do not sell mint-flavours anymore, as the present batch is supposed to be low-fat. By WL's definition, it should be good for guys as it does not kill sperms~! ^^

It's much harder to persuade War and WL to visit the library (the subjects' section) than to force WL to eat sperm, I mean mint down his throat. To prove that it's safe for them to go in without being called out unexpectedly, I decided to challenge them and they would go in to take a look if I had won.

The challenge: To walk into the library for 30sec w/o any teachers recognising me. How hard could it be? I don't think any teachers would recognise me with the cap right? :)

The result: Failed even before going in the library. Mr Koh called out my name and said that I had slimmed down... In the library, Mr. Tai and Mrs Richards recognised me and asked how's my life... So talked a bit about Mathematical Science with Mr Tai, and apparently the subject has more than it meets the eye. o.o For a moment, I feel like an O lvl student asking about the prospects of studying in PJ. Awesome! Anyway, that's a challenge failed but somehow I still managed to pull WL inside the library after that, much to War's displeasure (mutiny).

After the so called scary visit to the library, we sat down at the checkered table (memories of playing chess on that table) and listened to the dance club hits before War decided to leave early and pack his room. Have a safe trip dude~! Deciding that there was nothing much to do, me and WL decided to find the 'programme talk' that is being listed. Apparently we couldn't find that particular event, but stumbled across an ambassador and a group of teenagers near the chem lab~! The ambassador guy is really awesome as his way of introducing suits the 16-years old a lot (you see this one? this is the chem lab! nice right!? =D ), and I was sort of enjoying his talk until he said... "So this chem lab is the 1st floor, then physics is the 2nd floor, and bio lab is the 3rd floor."

Me at a corner: Alamak wrong luh! Since when science labs got 1st floor~!

(Few seconds later) "Eh paiseh, this chem lab is the 2nd floor! No wonder I thought how come our school suddenly got basement~"

LOL!!! Haha this ambassador very cute siol! =P It's a pity that we lost that group when we went to the toilet, otherwise there would be more interesting features to hear from him! With that goal to follow his tour group, we proceeded back to the Cafe and wait for him to return to the foyer.

--

Area: Cafe - A long break!

Random things that happened during the long break while waiting for that awesome ambassador to pass by~

1. Apparently PJ got itself a Healthy Eating Award! Such remarkable achievements!
2. The songs changed from the Serenade category to the Clubbing category, most are clubbing songs!
3. Some of the modern dance clubbers are awesome! They got the moves like jagger! (lolwut?)
4. The trio orientation songs are still in tradition, and I still didn't forget the 13 'ois' in Let's Get Loud! ^^
5. PJ made a 1.5x speed of 'It's the time to Disco!' Ah, it still looks quite lame though. =/
6. OCC's name isn't on the staff tree anymore. =(
7. The ambassadors are travelling on different routes for some strange reasons~

The day-clubbers danced to Taylor Swift's 'We are never ever getting back together'! I can only say that they are doing it real wrong. When the real club song (sorta) 'Beauty and the Beat' comes up, nobody danced to it, this is freakin' strange sia!

-----

Area 3: The CCA booths near the canteen and the cabins!

Halfway throughout the X-in-a-row mass dance, I decided to go up to the 2nd floor and take a look if the vending machine is still up there. Nope, it's being removed (how sad), and all that is up there is just WL looking from a monkey's-eye-view and hey! It's the awesome ambassador! So just for the fun of it, I sat down at one of the consultation tables and hear what he really has to say~

(The Ambassador pointing to the pigeon holes)
Ambassador: So this is the staff room! And you can look for the teachers here for consultation, appointments or other things! =D

[The people looked at him with a O_O look, with me laughing away at the corner]

Ambassador: (Finally sensing something is amiss) Oh! As in the door over there leads to the staff room, these are the pigeon holes, inside is the staff room, Aha~~

One does not simply calls pigeon hole a staff room like how PJ built a basement unexpectedly. ^^ Anyway moving on to stalking them, we took awhile to look at the AV noticeboard while the Ambassador gives an account of how he views the cabin classrooms and the courtyards. From their advertising of advantages, it gives an impression that they are a super realistic club, instead of the actual all-time-friendly impression they give.

Why should you join AV? ^^

1. You can learn lighting and sound skills! See and hear like never before!
2. You can learn to interact with people, esp. teachers! Oi AV why the microphone not set up!?
3. Most importantly, LOADS OF CIP HOURS!!! XD

According to WL's studies, half the AV get elite results while the half gets retained, therefore the club has great bonding as the seniors and juniors have known one another for a very long time. :)

Our stalking was exposed at the cabins, but we still continued to follow them (sorta) until the area near the canteen, where the Interact Board is. This area should be dedicated to sports, games and Outdoor activities. Among all the random nonsense, ODAC seems to be the most appealing, the photos, the suggested activities, the bonding after CCA. Come to think of it, I still have the mini ODAC card which RJ gave me a few years ago! ^^

"Lead like an adult, play like a kid." and live while we're young!

---

With that, ends the tour of walking down memory lane in PJ. Before going off, we had lunch at the Cafe. Baked potato with egg and Fruit Punch! The potato is still as delicious, and surprisingly the fruit punch tasted nice compared to the past! WL's ice-coffee order is simply ignored and changed to iced tea instead. So much for laughing at me having to drink fruit punch. Ha! =P

Of course, what's worse than listening to clubbing songs throughout your whole lunch?

A: Listening to hopeless records song all the way! I think the DJ must have spinned WL's playlist, as almost all the songs are very noisy and definitely more powerful to give a rude awakening compared to Bobby and Rozz! Just the girl and Happy Birthday (Click 5). No Backseat Serenade though, otherwise WL could perform his single again, haix. =(

Before we went off, the 3 Orientation songs are played again, with Theodore being forgotten everytime, and CRJ's 'Call me Maybe'! Yea, those who wish to enrol into PJ, get your JAE admission forms submitted and have a good time in PJ! :D

*The value of this moment lives in Metaphor*

-----

PL431 attended to a Texas Chicken Fire at Causeway Point. The chickens should be properly warmed up for consumption! On the way back home, I saw Yaznisham and his gf Nadia! Yaznisham look quite tired though, as they just left Nadia's house. Ah, I see what they did there! He recognised me in my cap, so I think  my disguise should have failed entirely the whole day. Ah oh well!

After much nonsensical elaboration, finally I reached the end of the post! Oh, here's wishing War a safe trip in New Zealand! ^^
