End June - A surprising side of things

Went out with War today (1st day of freedom) for a short lunch and buying of my earpiece. Here are some of the pleasant surprises for me and War. :)

1. Ikea buffet

Do you know that there exist an IKEA buffet just about 2 weeks ago, and there is an extension of operating hours? All the meatballs you want, how cool is that huh. :D

Jeff - Not surprised.
War - Very surprised.

2. Lingoberry juice

30th June, afternoon. Lingoberry drink is an option to choose from. Sadly.

3. Avocado juice


Avocado juice, most people have heard of it, but do you know that Alexandra hawker center has at least 4 stalls selling this juice? 

Apparently War's parents went to this stall and bought a cup for War, and he liked it. Well, that recommendation made me try the juice for the 1st time in my life. $2.50 per cup, quite milky, and probably the best Avocado juice I will have in my life. Definitely not as disgusting as WJ mentioned (The $1 thing).

This is Avocado in Chinese: 鳄梨
 Another non-intuitive chinese fruit, just like grapes.

War - Smth about mei rong (beauty).

4. Mystery place with 'zoo toilet'. 




Pop quiz! This particular place uses the outdoor toilet concept for a toilet, and beautifies the place significantly. Where is this place? (Hint and Answer below)

Hint: 2nd spot in MOH Patient Satisfaction Survey
Answer: Alexandra Hospital

War wanted to go to the toilet, and we spontaneously commented that the toilet looked like something a zoo would have, and true enough, the sign confirmed our judgement. Cool right? :)

The other facilities are beautiful too. Visit the place if you are really free, near the area and want to rest at somewhere with an amazing scenery.

5. Trivial bus route

Do you know that there is a direct bus from IKEA to JE and Boon Lay? Now WL can take a direct bus to IKEA for a chance of meatballs! =P

6. Star Vista visit

War is having Jurongphobia, so we went to Star Vista for shopping of my earpiece. Saw Derrick and Berny working in the shop! Cool! Bought a random earpiece and ink cartridge for usage in Y2S1.

That's about it for the day. The taste of freedom is priceless. =P

Course Review NTU SPMS - Electives

This portion is for the electives! ======== PE / UE ======== BU8301 - Fundamentals of Business Law (Y2S1/3AU/BM) [S/U] Lecturer/Tutor: Mr Ram A Ganapathy Class Participation, Presentation (20%) - Grade: A- Finals (80%) Overall Grade:  S A 1.5hr lecture and a 1.5hr seminar weekly. Seminar attendance taken. The 20% CA consists of a tutorial presentation, and that's about it! The rest is just class participation. The finals is a 2.5h, open-book exam. If you are a person who dislike maths, don't wanna take BU8201 like the others, wanna clear Business PE or just want to have an open book exam, then this mod is for you! This module doesn't require memorising, since the exam is open book, but you will have to know how to apply the case laws and application. I find them rather applicable in real life, such as laws in purchasing items, and signing contracts which most of us will encounter in the future. NTU MAS or NUS stats?

This is in response to one of the post in the tagbox! NTU MAS or NUS stats? ================== Ok, I have only spent 1 semester in NUS, so I am not too sure about their math culture...  1. Do you really like stats / understand what stats is about? Stats is not as easy as what the JC H1/H2 math depicts. It is a specialized branch of applied mathematics, and requires deep understanding. Future job scopes will include data analyst / trend forecasters / model evaluators / etc. If your answer is YES: and you don't really mind which school is it, then you can consider both NUS stats / NTU stats.  If your answer is NO: Then don't bother with stats. If stats is the only reason in why you choose NUS, then the answer is straightaway NTU, and you can skip the rest of the post. If your answer is DUNNO: If you feel that you need some time to explore a math / stats route in detail, then perhaps it will be good to consider NTU MAS, as the track selection is do
