August 2012 beginning

The jellyfish is back! :D

With so many ppl mis-using the emergency ambulance, hearing ppl complain about their lives, posting about their buffets, trying to change their ppl's lives and appointment for no damn reasons, it is finally August, which means 4.5 months to ORD! ^^

Nothing much happened, covering duties (with OILs of course), small outings, bla bla bla...

1. Farrer park small outing
2. NR3 with PM Fazly.

====================================

28/7, the OIL. Me, YL, ZY and Nat mei met up at Farrer Park for a small makan and chit-chat about life, along with playing YL's hair! :)

Initially YL had planned on a seafood restaurant / eatery place, but somehow it couldn't be found. The backup plan: Aston, was immediately activated. Why Aston? Probably because I thought of the delicious herb fish [Outing with JM and Tean at SSC] and the tasty rice. =P

Everybody was looking at the menu, looking through the dishes and the beverages Aston offered, not exactly an extensive variety, but still held sufficient choices for consumers, not for ZY at least, when his expression turned cold when he realised that there is no Coke on the menu.

Y NO COKE?!?!?

The waitresses were definitely warm and friendly, esp the Chinese one. She waited patiently for our orders and always have a smile on her face, strongly reminding me of the very nice aunty at Chong Pang BBQ. Naturally we let the young one order first, so he started off the ordering auspiciously.

Aunty: "So ah boy, what would you like to have for your meal today?"
ZY: "ICE LEMON TEA!!! XD"

Perhaps it is an etiquette / tradition / culture to start off ordering the menu with appetizers, followed by your main dishes, side dishes, desserts and finally drinks. So when ZY shouted the ice lemon tea, everybody laughed, including the aunty. Ah-ha ZY u cute sia. =P

Nothing eventful happened during dinner, except that ZY kept calling my Black pepper fish with tasty rice as Pancakes with syrup. I still think the baked potato with butter is seriously delicious! Really better than Delifrance one, and definitely at a cheaper price too. :)

Nat was asking why did my orange juice look suspiciously like lemonade, the aunty stepped in and cleared the doubt by comparing the colours. "The lemonade's colour will naturally be lighter than orange juice". She points at 2 random drinks bottles and told us that the bottle with a warmer colour is orange juice. Ah, inspirational.

After dinner, we walked around City Square mall, nothing much to do anyway. I forgot who complained about the walk being too boring, and therefore we proceeded to the Drinks Bar at the Italian restaurant. A rather large number of people, but the status of the restaurant wasn't declared full, so thats awesome! :D

Apart from the drinks bar, we ordered cheesecake, vanilla ice-cream with cake, chocolate ice-cream with cake. The cheesecake ($4.90) is awesome! The flavour is a bit strong, but hey at least its concentrated quality cheesecake, and the cake dosent collapse easily  (you wont want all the cake crumbs all over your plate ya?), rather worth it I guess? The vanilla ice-cream was ok, don't think it was that diluted though, the feeling is just like eating ice-blended directly. The cake was all right. The original dish was actually a contrast of flavours between the cake and the ice-cream, but since ZY is interested in full chocolate and I prefer a vanilla flavour, so we swapped, and perhaps that may be the cause of the dilution in taste. :/ Ah.

So we talked about life, read Nat mei's Econ notes, asking and testing YL about different ranks and the proper names for them, singing different songs (including NDP ones) and trying to remix them with futile efforts. Not that bad, and of course, vandalising on my notebook with whales, names and people flipping tables.

The main part? Spamming drinks from the drinks bar! Ice milo, lemonade, orange juice, different flavours, cappucinos, tea, coffee? This time nobody was frightened / scared out from the cappucino machine (from the previous encounter). I drank quite a lot of ice-milo, and somehow the powder became significantly lesser after that. To counter that effect of dilution, ZY must have added about 6 packets of sugar to that small size drink, and actually drank some of it! With that concentration of sugar in a small volume of liquid, I think that should work much more effectively than a can of Redbull. Perhaps if I follow Encik Rahul, i should take ZY's solution and give it to the patient. Guaranteed hypoglycemia to hyperglycemia within minutes if the patient drinks the drink properly. =P

I ordered 1 more potato wedges with chicken karrage as we dragged a bit long with the drinks bar. Surprisingly the food was very delicious! Perhaps the ridiculous taste in the past had lower my expectation or something, but somehow the dish I ordered was really awesome! Cheap finger food! Wanted to order the spicy chicken wings, but found it a bit troublesome to hold the wings, so oh well! The honey mustard that came along with the chicken karage was the best. A really sweet sauce which went along and dosent have too much of the bitterness. :)

A lot of drinks and food, along with spending an excessive amount of time in the restaurant, averaged out to be about $9 per person, thanks to 2 cheesecake amounting up to $9.80. Worth it! With that auspicious feeling of being almost-drowned by the drinks, we called it a day and rested well. =D

NR3

An awesome duty! Although some calls were really anyhow (eg patient wants to lie on stretcher and does not want to move to the hospital bed), but it was a different experience altogether. What you hear and what you really do, a whole new dimension.

We ate curry puffs, hard boiled egg and other malay delicacies at 0245 hrs in the morning. Delicious! Talked about rotas in future with Tasneem and Encik Fazly, how to teach rotas, how to lead them well, how to make sure they go for calls properly as if we were professionals and have analysed the theory of teaching people. Cheh, make ourselves happy cannot ar? XD

The duty ended exceptionally fast, with everything being done properly right after 8am. Had breakfast with Richard and WQ at the big canteen (WQ ate prawn noodles as usual). Who knows when will a next duty like this happen? Haix.

==================================

Ar, nothing much left, shall end this post here! XD
