A reminder to take care of ourselves

Today, I heard someone whom I am not that close to has a mental breakdown. Probably my heart is a bit cold, but I didn't feel anything. That said, I felt relieved that at least someone was alerted and was doing something to help her.  Reason for breakdown: Most probably due to stress as things are not going well. --- It's quite sad to hear that, and it's even sadder to know that lots of people are facing stress from practical issues (studies, work, supporting loved ones, trying to meet expectations). Indeed some of them are unavoidable such as being the support for your family.  Some problems are not meant to be solved. Whenever we do something, a big question should come to mind: Is it worth it?  If something is not worth doing, or if nobody cares about it, then why should we overstress ourselves? Is it truly for the "great" objective, or is it because of our personal pride or bad habits (e.g. for completeness / for rigour)? --- It is good to set goals, but pleas...

Random nice people

Forgot to post a random encounter after I came back to SG (from Japan).  I forgot to put back my SG cards (Ez-link / Gym / etc) in my wallet, and happily took the bus to the interchange (1 stop).  Fml, no Ez-link card, my debit card cannot be scanned (last year still can), and I only have $10/$50 notes to pay cash fare ._. (1) The bus driver saw the encounter, and quickly told me don't need to pay.  (2) There was a Chinese aunty who offered to help me pay. I offered to change my $10 with some of her small notes, but she said it was ok. The bus driver told her don't need to pay for me as he is waiving the fare. The aunty then told me all is good. In a world where people have selfish agendas, making chaos when there is no need to, and people who rank riches to be more important than character, it's very heartwarming to see something like this, and even more heartwarming when u are the one who received help from such scenarios. To the bus driver and aunty: Both of u didn't...

Random thought

Sometimes it's not the activity that matters, but it's about who you are doing with, and whether they are willing to enjoy / go through it with you~ And if that makes you happier, why not? :)

Spin Class journey [Start]

Image
The jellyfish is back! In a recent 2025 dinner with my junior Justin, he asked why I didn't post much things on my blog in these few years. I remembered giving him excuses such as being busy / nothing to post / random reasons, and naturally he knows it's all bs. :P  I shall take his encouragement and do some random posts every now and then. To start off the year, I shall write something related to attending spin classes~ Document as a memory. :) ========== Will elaborate on the experience below, but in summary, I am going for Spin classes at Vibe Studio Singapore (  https://myvibestudio.com/  ).  Quite fun, give Spin a try if u are interested. The Beginner Experience class is only $10, and is bought individually. So even if u don't like the experience, only $10 is wasted. No hidden packages associated with this. :) FitXpo event The whole thing started from simple curiosity --- Going to the FitXpo event ( https://fitxpo.sg/ ) held at Suntec in Sep 2025. It was really ...

2026 resolution

The jellyfish is back :)  Yet another year of not posting anything except the NY resolution. My junior asked me why I didn't post anything throughout the year. Maybe because I got older, nothing much to post? No mood to post?  That just sounds like a lot of excuses, perhaps I should put more things here instead of just my IG. XD Anyway, time for another yearly reflection~ ~~~ What is awesome about 2025? 1. Had meals and walks with PH. Some Random post-trip meetups with WL (Wen Long). 2: Random meals with WL (Wee Liang), went for 2 Korea trips together. :D 3: Meals with ZP, Vellay. Chatting with JJ online. :) 4. Took care of temp staff at work -> 2025 also marks the final year I take care of the young peeps. -> Had many meals with them, even went for outings! (29th Jul cohesion) 5: Continued to gym and run. -> Similar to last year, I think I had better form doing gym exercises. Also tried heavier weights for most body parts (arms, shoulders, chest).  -> Went fo...

2025 resolution

The jellyfish is back :)  Another year of not posting anything in 2024, and then realizing I am writing this on a 2025 morning... Time for another yearly reflection~   ~~~ What is awesome about 2024? 1. Had some meals and gyms with F4 peeps. Mostly with PH. 2: Hanging out with ZP, Vellay, WL (Wee Liang) chatting with JJ online~  3. Continued to exercise rather consistently. -> I think I had better form when doing gym exercises this year, even with similar/slightly heavier weight.  -> Went for a NTU 7km run (note to myself to run walk on slopes) and SC 10km (timing didnt improve). 4. Passed IPPT, 1st time in life. ^.^ 10 seconds away from failing it. Didn't expect to pass, so I take it as a bonus. 5. Went to NZ for the 1st time with WL. Korea grad trip rerun with SY and WJ. 6. 1st time to a pop-rock concert [ATL ftw] 7. Took care of temp staff at work, and somehow had more meals with them as compared to 2023 :) ========== What is not that great? 1. No longer ha...

2024 resolution

The jellyfish is back :)  Realised that I did not post anything on this blog for the entire 2023, except the injury portion. >< Still,  it's timely for a yearly reflection~ ~~~ What is awesome about 2023? 1. Did a hair transplant procedure. It's a problem which I wanted to tackle for a long time, but didn't really know how to go about it.  2. Had quite a lot of meals and gyms with F4 peeps. 3. Recovered from the leg fracture, and even managed to (somewhat) improve cardio. Ran SC 10km  and improved by 25 minutes (1:15) as compared to 2018 (1:40). Seems like a decent improvement. 4: Hanging out with ZP and Vellay, chatting with JJ online.  5. Went to Korea with parents, and visited Jap first time in life with SY and WJ. 6. Took care of temp staff at work. :) This is something many peeps won't appreciate though~ ========== What is not that great? 1. Didn't really learn anything new, both work and personal.  2. Did not really progress in gym exercises. Th...

Injury 2022

Image
The jellyfish is back~ Writing a memory about my injury at the end of 2022, maybe can laugh at it in the future. XD So towards the end of Nov 2022, I fell down and landed on the side of my left root. With some amazing luck, it resulted in a hairline fracture. >< A hairline fracture is the least severe of all fractures, but it is still a tear in the bones and definitely painful. Thankfully at the present time of writing, the fracture has healed 70% and I can start walking slowly to various places (such as the office, public transport). :) --------- 23rd Nov [The beginning - UCC and clutches] Visited the GP, to see if there is any chance where it could be just a small injury. The left foot shows a big patch of blue-black at the top of the foot too. The GP doctor immediately went: "Aiyo this one confirm fracture la. Please go take an X-ray." She wrote a reference letter and asked me to take it to the Urgent Care Center (UCC) at Kampung Admiralty. I didn't even know abo...

2023 resolution

The jellyfish is back :)  So, it's been another year, where a lot of COVID restrictions have been lifted, and things somewhat went back to how it was in 2019. Not sure if it's a good thing, but anyway it is appropriate for another resolution post. ~~~ What is awesome about 2022? 1. Went to the gym more often, and did more cardio too. As compared to first starting gym, I think I did more exercises properly, and got a bit stronger. Guess its a healthy lifestyle. 2. Had quite a lot of meals with F4, gym sessions. 3. Created another puzzle game series for Vellay, hoped he enjoyed them. Enjoyed quite a number of crosswords with him too. 4. A few nice hikes with ZP, great outings with JJ, and went on a short Thailand trip with SY and WJ. Feels good to go overseas for a short trip again.  5. Knowing that I will get promoted to senior staff~ Not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing, but for now just think positively. :)  ========== What is not that great? 1. Didn't touch ...

Beautiful night at Canberra 3

Image
Its been a fun 1 year with many exercises and makans along the way. Guess you have achieved your main goal of this activity. Here is hoping you will find true happiness, and have someone who accompanies you in life. Although its difficult, people come and go, and we have to adapt to these changes. The timer to part ways for this activity will now start. Thanks for all the great moments, I will treasure them. :) 3 down, all clear~

2022 resolution

The jellyfish is back! 2021 has been a decent year for me, even though it may not be as peaceful as 2020~ But still, all is good! This year I wrote this in Mid-Jan 2022 instead of the final night of 2021 because I was at GBTB with PH on NY eve night. No fireworks, but definitely a nice and cooling walk~ ~~~~~ What is awesome about 2021? :) 1. This year I managed to get much more exercise as compared to 2019/2020, and I think is perhaps even more than 2018 too. Started going to weekly gyms with War and PH, and also by myself more frequently too. Added cardio to this mix. Honestly I would expect myself to be the last person on Earth to get a gym membership, but seems like things can be different as time goes by~  2. Had quite a lot of meals with F4. I think partially because go gym -> easier to meet -> makan. 3. Experienced new stuff and places -> Made a puzzle game series for Vellay; Created some mini games through python and via GUI for own entertainment; Went for a Sentos...

F4 outings - 2021 (3/3)

Image
The jellyfish is back! I have decided to write a post collating some of the memories I had with F4 in 2021. :) Part 1 (Jan to May 21):  http://jellyunderthesea.blogspot.com/2021/05/f4-outings-2021-13.html Part 2 (Jun to Sep 21):  http://jellyunderthesea.blogspot.com/2021/08/f4-outings-non-group-2021.html ===== 30th Sep - 2nd Oct: Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Staycation (PH) Staycation ftw! ^^ We decided to go for a staycation as a short break from work. The COVID-19 Delta variant was spreading quite a bit, and so everyone can only hang out in groups of 2. That didn't affect us though~ :) We chose Shangri-La at Sentosa for a slightly different feel of hotels, it was 5-stars, and the appearance looked nice the previous time we visited the hotel lobby and facilities. The price was about $400+ per person for a 3D2N stay. A classic sea view room. Every facility (E.g. pool, sea sports) has to be booked due to the COVID measures, but thankfully they were really easy to book. :) Day 1 Met ...
