July first thoughts

The jellyfish is back~! Posting about some random things that happened for this recent half month. Nothing much, since I was doing a lot of duties and spending most off days at home stoning / slacking. :)

=======================================

Tean's birthday had passed 2 days ago, happy birthday to him! 20 is an age where a person leaves his teen, cos his age in word no longer ends with a 'teen'. Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty. :/ I forgot who said this to me, but somehow it dosen't really matter.

Anyway, the previous sunday was a small outing (after my night shift) with JM and him to Jurong Point for a small makan at Carl's Jr. Ate the mushroom burger again, even though it's the same item I ate with o3 last year. Still taste as delicious, and this mushroom thickburger is still very filling for me. I think I took 15 more mins to finish the whole meal compared to the other 2... Carl's Jr still has the free drink refill and the salsa salad. I spammed plenty of homemade ice-lemon-tea, while JM was helping himself with the various herbs and spices to go along with his onion rings and chicken burger.

So as a meet-up session, we talked about life, JM's complains about him not going to VSC due to IPPT. That's a very silly reason as he had hospitalisation leave for a few months due to his fall, therefore there is no way he could have taken IPPT without compromising the safety of his leg's condition. Oh well... But hey at least he is a CPL, while I am still an anyhow LCP in station. =P

Tean is enjoying his 3SG pay, which amazingly is higher than Zul's pay by about $20? As JM said, that's a very high for a PES C status personnel. I shall agree with it!

Both of them are taking driving lessons, which are awesome! JM said that he stalled the manual car for over 20+ times (perfectly normal), hope that he can learn well~ Hearing their learning process is awesome, memories of driving along Woodlands Ave 9 and Woodlands Industrial Park came flowing back, along with the near-accidents which I caused while turning U-turns and changing lanes without looking at blind spots. I should really appreciate that I passed my TP even though I am a very blur person. :)

After lunch (1.5hrs later), we walked around JP, looking at the different products in the big NTUC, admiring the awesomely cool jackets, comparing the roasted / bbq-ed chicken between different supermarkets. I bought a 8GB thumbdrive at Challenger for $10.90 while Tean bought a new earpiece. XD

JM bought a baugette before going home, we handed over Tean's (bear-packaged) birthday present, and that concludes a small outing before I go home to sleep for the next day's day duty~!

Ah, now for boring medical stuff / experiences...

"One of the most memorable case of cardiac arrest. Patient had a heart attack and collapsed at home. Cpr and 2 shocks given on scene; patient had pulse and breathing. As i am typing, he's on the way for bypass/ballooning. Wonderful 4-man crew of Encik Rahul, Abang Sam, myself and Alonggo Jefferson. Never thought i'd get a collapse case revive at scene. Great job guys! Great honour to be working with you guys."

- Posted by Senior medic Zul. He added a photograph of 311 while posting this on FB. How cute! =P

So yea, among the 16 collapses which I had, this is the only 1 that actually survived in the end, and should be at home resting if nothing happened to him after his discharge. ^^ The true meaning of life-savers, finally got it after being so long in stn!

------

Ridiculous cases...

1. A husband called the ambulance as her wife felt uncomfortable in the stomach after eating spicy chicken wings. They were driving in and out of the condo just to look for the ambulance crew.

2. An aunty from woodlands chose to walk in Yishun at 6am in the morning for unknown reasons and fell down due to hypoglycemia. Instead of checking up at the nearest hospital, she insisted in going to Raffles Hospital even though she had no money... -_-

3. A family calling the ambulance because the daughter hyperventilated. "Look at her, she is in great pain and great danger!!!" Awesome sentence from the father.

Let's depict 2 scenarios where the setting arises from yourself thinking that you had a serious condition, and is going to die.

S1: After the doctor examines your situation, he laughs and comfort you to be less emotional and calm to listen for advice to make yourself feel better.

S2: After the doctor examines your situation, he makes the whole 'non-serious' a whole lot more tense and gives the feeling of impending doom anytime.

Professionalism is one thing, indeed one should put in their best effort, commitment and care whenever possible, but if there are ways to let everything go better that would not affect a person's effort standards, why not just try those ways? You won't get a prize for being the most serious person, but you would definitely get a smack (verbal?) if you try to make everybody as 'xiao-on' as you or blow things up for no apparent situation~

"The most important thing when going for calls is to be calm and relaxed, because this will let the mind be better and be able to think clearer to provide the best care for a patient. It's always better than being xiao-on and panic for no reason, after that everybody worries with you or the family and make the situation more chaotic,"

One of the most awesome saying I have heard from a paramedic!

Zul's junior is coming to station tonight for his 1st duty, awesome! This means that I am going to ORD in a few months time, oh wait, slightly less than 5 months. :) let's hope his learning process would be an enjoyable one!

Thought of 2 random applications which is closely related to school's theory.

1. Why does Entonox feel cold after a person has used a decent amount of gas?

A: Entonox flows from an area of high pressure to low pressure. From the ideal gas law, since the pressure of a gas is proportional to the temperature, thus the temperature of the remaining gas becomes lower since lesser gas particles are inside the gas. Entonox is definitely not ideal, but hey it is still a gas!

2. Factors that affect the rate of aspirin dissolving in water.

A: Temperature, area of aspirin, KE of aspirin molecules, catalyst, any others?

~ I still remember when X asked me this question, this 1st thing I answered was Kinetic Energy of aspirin molecules and explained how it increases the dissolving rate in a very cui way... =.=

-----------

All right that's all, I hope there would be a miracle for tonight...
