Day 4: U/C

===============================================

Day 1: Arrival at Genting

Usually SY, WJ and William will go for a trip together at the end of the year. A short trip to a nearby Asian country just for relaxation and eating. Not something grand nor requires a lot of planning. However this year William is not free, and so I sort of substituted that empty position. =P

4-days trip, and with differences from the other trips of the year.
-> No need luggage. The only carry on allowed is a 7kg item.
-> Not the first time travelling with SY. =P The rest all first time with friends / boss.
-> No need special preparations as weather about the same.
-> Other trips aim to visit many places, this one objective is like everyday shopping.

Let's start. :D

~~~~~
0800 hrs: Met up with the both of them at T4. Not too many people on a Wednesday morning, and the check-in was pretty fast with no luggages. T4 is supposed to be a bit more automated(?) than other terminals, but I don't feel any difference. Had some old chang kee curry puffs while resting in the waiting area.
This design looks kinda traditional and we thought everything was normal. Until the walls and doors of the blue and red region started to "move"... Kudos to the people who designed this!
We took the Air Asia plane, and apparently drink services on such short international flights are not free (unlike the long ones), but passengers may choose to buy or pass the drinks. [Didn't know that] Arrived at KL at about 11.10am. WJ mentioned that someone beside him wanted to sleep, but was forced to return the tray table up to its original position after 10 mins into the flight. XD
Stuck at the immigration area for an hour or so, before taking a 90-mins Grab up to Genting Highlands. The Grab app in MY differs slightly from the one in SG, as Grab users in MY would need their photo to be verified before the booking becomes successful.
Waseh model siol.
Nothing really interesting through the expressways of KL, but going up is an experience. =P The area became much foggy, the roads were steeper (and some sharp turns) and more accident-prone. The grab driver chose to wind down the windows as the outside air was cooler than the vehicle interior.
1440 hrs: We reached the cooling hill top. Slightly raining, but definitely feeling awesome. :D Genting is a tourist attraction and its highlights are the theme parks and casino. The most important thing would be to get some lunch.
Korean Food! We ordered a set that consists of 8 seasonings of meat, vegetables and an additional fried rice. The meat has nice flavours like ginseng, pine and were supposed to be eaten in order (?). Generally not bad, although some of them really couldn't taste the difference. Rainy weather + nice BBQ meat + vegetables for wrapping = excellent!
Took the chance to talk about study life, how to defend against social attacks, work life, etc. It's been really long since I talked to them. =P Think the last time was the birthday dinner near SY's place.
After the dinner, we checked in to MY's largest hotel (First World) with over 7k+ rooms. Quite old le, but there is still flocks of tourists there waiting to check-in at both the automated kiosks and the customer service counter. I originally thought the people were queuing for rides. -_-
The walkway to the furthest tower. Looks like a shopping center walkway.
The fog as seen from the Ground level corridor. Totally white! Can't see a thing outside.
The fog from the view of our hotel room at the 15th floor. Can't see much stuff outside. The room is kind of small, with 2 beds and a very small toilet without a door. Heard that many people chose this hotel because it is budget enough. So it is good for a place to stay in, but can't expect much about luxury and comfort.
~~~~

1730 hrs: After placing our stuff, we walk around the Genting area. Very touristy place, with a lot of lights and music to go around.

Genting Indoor theme park. While the outdoors is still undergoing construction, the indoor still provides rides for people. Not all are open though, such as the top layer roller coaster.

An area at the upper floors of the shopping center, showing various merchandises.

Main area. Christmas-related advertisements would shown on the projected screens. The feeling is amazing, like you feel carefree and just walking around enjoying sounds without needing to think about anything. XD

Godiva chocolate, hmm. SY suggested that we try have a ice-cream (despite the cold weather) and enjoy the chocolate richness. Cool, why not. =P

This stick of heavenly goodness costs RM25. Not cheap, but definitely rich in flavour. The texture is creamy, and does drip off after a while [Though not too watery]. A bit creamier than Haggen-Dazs? Best not to let it hang there for too long! It has a dark chocolate taste that is not too bitter, but yet not too sweet. Felt less sinful than eating normal ice-cream haha.

Resorts World Genting (RWG) with its Christmas decorations and photo taking. I think RWG is the main area of the place that provides these shopping facilities. Is just like RWS having shops, but with separate entertainment facilities. Quite a number of shops, some are quite atas, but there is a lot which doesn't feel really expensive. :)

First World Hotel naturally isn't the only hotel in the Highlands. We went to see of the neighbouring ones, which actually look really nice but has much lesser people. Could be due to the price? The hotel lobby was playing some K-pop songs and we could see children running around the fun area for kids.

There is a small outdoor area outside the hotel, where one could enjoy the outdoor scenery, the fog and look at the plants. :) Not many people were there, so we took a bit of time to breathe in the fresh cooling air, and feeling the slight drizzle. Damn nice, good to visit. Here is a link that describes more about the place: https://blog.rwgenting.com/post/?id=6442451689&blog=Enjoy-the-beauty-of-nature-Talking-Gardens-at-Resorts-World-Genting

1900hrs: SY wanted to re-visit arcade games, and specifically ONE arcade game. The credits go to BishiBashi, a japanese game that requires players to solve a series of puzzles within a certain time limit. This is a video of how the game is like: https://youtu.be/Qpjyn7jUpEA

Of course, the games are somewhat randomized and in a different order too. The game allows up to 3 players at a time, making the game to be of a cooperative mode with stacked requirements. (E.g. 3 times the goal score and the time limit). The puzzles are really classic and just involve the use of 4 buttons. Spamming buttons to wake up a cat, killing off monsters in an order, etc. There was one stage which was extremely difficult (swapping video puzzle pieces), and we were all scratching our heads on handling that stage. Failed miserably. XP

It was really fun seeing SY rage when he thought he carried the whole team, but actually he wasn't the highest / fastest in the round. Nevertheless, that was a very good recommendation. ^^

1945 hrs: We had dinner at DTF. The food tasted about the same as compared to SG and in AU. Ate a quick dinner while calculating the amount of money we have left, while planning for a movie in the later hours.

2120 hrs: After getting a bit of rest in the hotel, we went to watch Jumanji 2 in the Indoor Theme Park. The tickets are quite cheap, and we received a complimentary chocolate snack for enjoyment. ^^ The cinema looks normal, just like the ones in SG. Though I did not watch the 1st Jumanji movie, the 2nd one is rather nice too. =P The idea of making a survival storyline like a game, is indeed quite nice. Quite stunned when something big dropped at the whole crew, and boomed they lost 1 life each. XD Also, whoever thought of the incorporating Geometry as an advantage deserves a prize. That was a really random but awesome addition! :D

2330 hrs: SY suggested to go for a night walk around the hotel area. Though it sounded fun, WJ was kinda tired and headed back first. The two of us then walked around the indoor and external carpark locations. I have always thought that Genting is a 24/7 area with people still gambling / gaming throughout the night, but apparently it isn’t as most of the shops have already closed and some of the arcades are preparing to rest for the night.

There are still some people walking around though, I guess they were just like us, venturing for fun. :D The external carpark area was the place where we had first arrived in Genting, and surprisingly the night at 19 degrees isn’t as cold as I thought. The fog also cleared up in the night, giving us a clearer view of the area.

External area, with some cars lining up.

RWG, the heart of all the fun in the highlands. =P

We had a nice chat too, with SY asking how I felt about the 1st day in MY, some of the grad trip days, SG life, and also discussing some of the activities for the next few days. The 1st day is a really nice and chill trip, perhaps this was what SY really wanted back in Korea, chill days instead of explorations everywhere, hmm. =P

We went back at about 12.30am, had a bath in the very small door-less area >< , and then ended a really nice day 1 with a good rest. :)
