Triple outing XD

ODNS simply relate the concept of triple town and triple outing together! =P

--

Don’t know when to reach + lateness + clock = random time
Don’t know what to do + Sui bian + chemical potential energy = random activity
Don’t know where to go + how to go ah + transport technology = random place

Random time + random activity + random place = funny happening!

3 funny happenings = anyhow plan!
4 or more funny happenings = anyhow plan with LOL element! :D

3 anyhow plans = outing!
4 or more anyhow plans = outing with unexpected surprises!
Outing + Outing + Outing = Triple outing! ^^

The jellyfish is back! While War is flying to India and expecting a blast of Naans and butter chicken, it’s another bright and beautiful Sunday, a day of relaxation, peace, serenity. ^^ Posting about the recent triple outing! =P

Ah, Sidetrack a bit, WL has kindly given his professional constructive criticism on my Pancakes post.

WL: How the fk do you even write 2400++ (2808 after 17%) on a simple Pancake outing? There is really nothing to write sia!

Jeff: Okay… =(

Triple outing: AFA 2012, meatballs galore, and the cycling outing! ^^

AFA 2012, 10th Nov~

Unlike last year’s AFA, this year’s Anime Festival Asia was being held at Singapore Expo. So out of curiosity, I agreed to go with ZH and SY even though I’m not an Anime Fan. ^^ I didn’t intend to buy anything, unless there is a very cute notebook with a design of a cat or something, or perhaps a folder so that I can use in Uni. Anything that has whatever dragons, fighters, ninjas, cards or other nonsense will be out of my list. Eh? That sounds like a gigantic list, but ah who cares. =P

I didn’t know 966 goes to Eunos via Bukit Panjang. On the way to Eunos, we just chat about NS lives, hearing ZH’s command excellence, SY’s super slack life and the envy of me going to ORD in about a month. ^^ It’s not a very crowded bus, but the same cannot be said in the MRT train towards Expo/Changi Airport! Usually, Tanah Merah would have a moderate number of people waiting to board the train for travelling purposes. On that very auspicious day, you can see a huge crowd of teenagers / young adults / people wearing weird costumes (cosplay?) waiting to board the train. If anybody said that the train is being packed with sardines, it’s seriously a close enough description.

Plenty of discussions about choices of swords, awesome anime characters, something about PokĂ©mon, cards, etc., so you can roughly guess on whether more people would alight at Expo or Changi Airport ya? =P  2 random girls were having a super informal discussion about deck cards (YGO wasn’t mentioned though). Eavesdropped a bit and caught something like this…

“At least PokĂ©mon can play by yourself, and almost everybody understands and got play before. Cards are very stupid sia, you just discard from a stupid deck, then attack and defend then skali for unknown reasons your card goes into the graveyard. Like very waste time, don’t know why people would play with them...” Luckily WL, WJ, William and Willis weren’t there to listen, or they will give the girls a wild way whacking/wallop.

Expo hall 7 is flooded with people, anime fans, cosplay fanatics, photographers and anime products collectors. Along the long pathway were people admiring the swords / bamboo sticks (ZH: must well just use the wooden bamboo for hanging clothes) they bought in the fair, people in weird hairstyles, dressed in Jap student costumes, knights, angels, etc. Apparently besides selling the AFA entrance tickets, they also sell concert tickets for a random J-Pop concert! A few hundred dollars for the concert ticket, thus the queue is literally rather empty. Jeffery may like the concert, since he is a hard-core Jap fan! XD

Honestly speaking, I don’t recognize even 5% of the characters featured inside the fair. Almost every corner is crowded though! From mini booths selling small gifts/keychains to lighted booths featuring swords and plushies to game corners including real life gachapon and card-fans! :D A few interesting booths~

Pokémon! Largely featuring the giant Pikachu and its games.

Apparently there’s this awesomely cute giant Pikachu walking around with a fan club following it and ending up at the booth. The booth features many plushies (eg. Snorlax), toys and other everyday items. Oh, for $3 per game, a person gets to play a motion-sensored video game to overcome all obstacles and touch the other friendly PokĂ©mon for a prize. Rather cute huh. =)

One-Piece, with other collectible items

As usual, this booth attracted a very long queue. The enclosed exhibit displayed tons of stationeries, clothes, jackets, awesomely giant mugs, pillows, etc. of various Animes being taken off the shelves quickly. It’s a wonder how do the owners get to restock so frequently. O_O a lot of people took pictures of their favorite characters printed on the products. I hope it’s not for their phone wallpaper, as the Internet would have nicer pics. J

FFA J-pop singing!

FFA as in open to the public as I think there would be a price incurred to sing a song or two. Saw some Chinese/Malay trying to catch up with the Jap lyrics and thus mispronounced the words significantly. If they were playing BR with words replacing arrow keys, it would definitely be this rating. ‘MISS’ =P

Other than these mentions, the rest didn’t really catch my attention. I didn’t buy anything after the whole 2 hours walk. SY wanted to buy a sword, but dropped the idea after thinking that he would be the only one holding the sword home. ZH bought some random products from the One-Piece stall, but it didn’t amount to $35, so no giant bag for him. Aw. =(

The shopping mall near Expo is rather crowded as many people had their meals there after the shopping trip. While walking around the basement to find empty seats, we saw this on-stage competition regarding some plant thing for primary school children. It must be after prize giving, as the host is giving his summarizing speech. Curious to hear what he has to say, I watched a bit, nothing interesting happened until he interacted with a random competitor.

Host: So, how do you find today’s competition? Is it fun?
Competitor (a small kid): No.
Jeff: woah honest siol!
Host: Eh, just now I thought you said its fun and meaningful!? Nvm let’s try again, so do you find today’s competition fun?
Competitor: Yes.
Jeff: Bloody basket liar sia!
SY: Last time when BP asked you all evaluate the point of IPW, you all also lie and say it’s meaningful and good what! (Jeff likes this 100%)

~.~ After some time of discussing, with ZH wanting to eat Mac while SY expects nothing lesser than a prestigious place, and me requesting a nearby place, we ended up eating Mac at Changi Airport! :D Besides my fillet-o-fish meal with a Mcflurry, = I took a bit of extra Mcspicy chicken fillet from ZH as he got an extra one for no reason (probably wrong order). Luckily I didn’t order 1 Mcspicy for myself, or else the Changi Airport firefighters would be activated~ =/

Went home after dinner, not without a nice recollection about the fun and anyhow times in BP/PJ, and concluding the AFA outing. ^^

Meatballs Galore, 22nd Nov

Since War will be in India for 2 weeks, it’s a rather auspicious time to carry out the Meatball meal plan. ^^ Unlike the previous IKEA outing which WL faithfully suggested, this time we went to IKEA, due to my suggestion. =P

A weekday in IKEA is significantly less crowded compared to a weekend. You don’t see a huge bunch of random kids running around, touching things and parents shouting at them to keep their hands to themselves. Although there is plenty of space and time to walk about, we countered (critically) IKEA’s entrance poster slogan: ‘We are more than just meatballs.” Yep, headed straight for the restaurant, and hey! We found most of the customers in the restaurant! ^^ Most customers have a plate of meatballs in front of them, so I think someone can start to tear down the poster~! Not as many people also, but it’s not really a breeze to find a seat though, especially if you have inconsiderate consumers who do not clear their trays after eating. =/

--

The 15-meatball dish! Served with lingoberry jam and potatoes! ^^ The pic looks rather blur though~ :/

The meatballs are awesome! 15 meatballs served with lingo berry jam and cooked potatoes, served with some random sauce for $8. The meat is rather solid, and it’s already delicious when eaten on its own! The jam tasted quite normal, but when it is combined with meatballs and perhaps some sauce, it’s a greater combination. ^^ The price for 10,15,20 meatballs are $5.50, $8 and $9.50 respectively. 15 should be a moderate number for a relatively hungry person, so perhaps I would order another set of 15 if I were to patronize IKEA again. J Oh, I also tried out the butterscotch almond dessert pie. Rather crunchy on the base and the chocolate filling in the dessert pie is sweet and not overwhelming. The price is $3.50, a bit ex for such a pie. =/

Looks not bad right? =D

--

After eating, we decided to rest a bit. I played ‘Doors and rooms’ on War’s new Samsung phone. It’s a rather fun game of using clues, logic and visualization to find a way for clearing the stage. For strange reasons, I cannot clear S2-6 as I couldn’t see any optical numbers by tilting / rotating / turning the phone. The hospital stage is much harder, but yet more fun! Maybe I will borrow his phone and continue after he returns from India. XD

It’s approximately 3.45pm when we headed off to Jurong Point. Nothing interesting along the way, unless you count War’s rambling about a $12 Korean buffet at Novena or the grumblings of going to India as exciting stories. Went to Jurong West Library to return some books, the library seemed rather big with many levels, and has an entrance/exit point for every floor.

Jeff: Eh War ah, you see this library. It has quite a lot of storeys, borrowing stations and also more  entrances/exits, very convenient sia! Perhaps better than Civic Center’s WRL!
War: But there isn’t any escalator / staircases linking them together. If you want to go to a different section, you have to exit and climb the CC staircase to go other places.
Jeff: Huh what the… Cancel out my WRL sentence. -_-

The CC offered many programs for primary school students during the school holidays such as camps, workshops, excursions, etc. Looked very interesting, except for a flaw.

“Hey kids, wanna join the Avengers such as Spiderman in this tour…?” Somebody should do a research on the Avengers. I don’t remember Spiderman being inside sia… o.o

Either Jurong has a very jialat planner, or there were simply not enough space to build things (largely occupied by waffle queues), but one does not simply do things in a straightforward way in Jurong. JP has an ATM that only allows withdrawals from $200 onwards. I wanted to withdraw only $30 - $50, so I have to withdraw $200 at the ATM machine, followed by depositing $150 back. War was basically laughing at the troublesome process of withdrawing $50.

War: “I can’t believe you really go put back the money sia. Why don’t keep the whole stack with you?” With the $50 note, I have no small dominations to pay War for the movie ticket, and thus ended up buying chocolates at NTUC to pay War. You see la, Jurong Guailan style. -_- After the ATM thing, we walked around JP, and hey there’s a new Chinese food court that sells Malaysia specialties such as Ba Ku Teh, the various gorengs, traditional breakfast, noodles, etc. Looks great! It’s not very common to see a traditional specialty food area in a shopping center. =)

WL arrived at JP at around 6.20pm. To enhance the effect of the movie, WL auspiciously wore his army (clerk) uniform to embrace the occasion, or in other words, ‘Cosplay’ as Warren calls it. Since we have an hour, we walked around the basement of JP, compared the queues between Prima Deli and the Post Office, and also browsed through the random books inside Popular. Enid Blyton books, wonder if kids nowadays know about this author. =/

Ah Boys to Men. A classic Singaporean army movie showing the lives of recruits, how people from all walks of lives bond together, the different attitudes and also the importance of protecting the country. A very nice movie, and the ways of doing things are rather different from Civil Defence (that is if whatever being shown is really true).  The keng-sters, the Hokkien guy, the one who acts like they know everything, and of course the classic Malay guys who like to sing. :D

From BMT to POP to ORD, ORD lo! ^^ For me should be BRT ya? =P

Dinner at KFC, War’s spicy tomato sauce looked pathetically little. This concludes the end of the Ah Boy meatballs outing before War’s India departure. J

Cycling outing, 24th Nov

It must be the auspicious day (Saturday) in the whole few weeks as this is the only day when it didn’t rain in the morning / afternoon, and so happens to be my leave / off day / planned cycling day for me, JM and Tean. Tean’s feng shui must be damn good. =P After the failed cycling event at West Coast Park (limited space, overpriced bicycles, and ended up at MR reservoir), Tean suggested to make up for it by suggesting cycling during my leave. It’s not a random suggestion (IKEA), so everybody still remembers it and turned up. =P

The journey to ECP is damn long, including the huge number of traffic jams, bus stops and JM finding a toilet in the library, until I could build a triple castle [1.1m in peaceful valley mode] and still haven’t reached ECP. Tean refused to play Triple Town without the bears. Yep, I agree it would be more fun to play with your brothers ya? =P

ECP offers more than just cycling and rollerblading for recreational sports activities. When we reached the ECP bus stop, a bunch of enthusiastic young Malay teenagers alighted and started skating on their skateboards. Most of them can skate really fast and well (cool!), leaving a few unbalanced ones behind. JM is like betting on whether the skater or the board would fell into the nearby drain. Yep, it is damn bad for him to say this, but true enough, as we walked for around 200m+, one of the skateboards literally crashed into the drain. -_- Thankfully Zul was not at that scene, or else he will shout at the Malay guy for disgracing such an awesome recreation.

Eh wait, Zul only performs stunts on his BMX; never hear him brag about skateboarding before.  Did JM mention something about special skateboards being a mode of transport? O.O

West Coast bicycle price: $10 / hour
East Coast bicycle price: $12 / 3 hours

For the 3 hours, we cycled from the middle of ECP all the way until we see Changi Airport’s control tower, passing by the skateboard park, chalets, ponds, jetties, the hawker center, seafood restaurant, the bridge with clearly dirty water, and the endless road. Along the long ride, we chat about JM’s driving lessons, plans after ORD, the awesome variety of takoyaki you can make with a takoyaki maker, played some music and also sang some Route March songs. ^^ Truth to be told, I think the last time I really exercised for this long should be during recruit times. Even for station/division RT, the duration would never exceed 2 hours. The windy road is really awesome, and plus the cooling weather, it’s really great to relieve the fun days of cycling~! =P

When we can finally see the control tower at the endless road, Tean borrowed JM’s phone and took some pictures of the tower, along with other trees / nicer sceneries. Shall share some pics which Tean took! XD

~~

The winding road of trees. Imagine if there's a cool breeze passing by~

-Shady trees-

An aeroplane that's going to fly off! A common sight from the endless road.

The airport control tower from far. Notice how near the yellow vehicle is.

Ah, a clear view of the Changi Airport's Control Tower, awesome!!

Ah of course! Our rented bikes from the front and back view! Mine is the messy one with the water bottle, whereas JM took a sling bag with him. Zul doesn't like rented bicycles, but heck care, they are still rather nice to ride! ^^

---

Nice right? So while Tean took the time and effort to take those pics, JM and me did a mock water parade, and laughed at the ridiculous original 118th Delta Water Parade. Nope, not the one with ‘United we Stand’. Original: “DELTA! AH-WOO!” Yep, the original has delta, and has the ah-woo word (wth does that even mean). Sounds legit!

After taking the pics, we cycled back all the way, with me almost knocking down a small boy as he suddenly cut into the main lane without checking for traffic. See la, never do safety check sure kena jialat, no wonder so many motorcycle RTAs. O_O ECP does rent some very strange cycling devices that are much more out of the box than the usual uni/bi/tricycles. There were some sheltered 4/6 people cycle tool which is rather ideal for a family, and a 1-man lying down cycle where you can lie in a semi-fowler position while using your legs to cycle, making you able to enjoy the sky scenery and expose your face to a direct critical kill by pigeon shit. Sounds dangerous, if I were to doze off while lying down, I would probably end up in the water or being hit by things as there would be 0 observance of traffic. =/

Marine Parade food court was chosen as the venue for dinner, since Tean doesn’t want Pastamania. Was forced to order the Hokkien mee ($5.80!) as the chef who is supposed to fry the Kway Teow haven’t report for duty (wtf?). The dish turned out all right, but definitely not as nice/worth as Yew Tee’s. The prices in the food court seemed to be a bit overpriced, but sort of balanced up a bit by the delicious tasting delicacies. J

We walked around Cold Storage and Isetan for a while as Tean and JM wanted to find their sparking juice and takoyaki maker respectively. Both went in with goals, both came out disappointed. Ah JM, your takoyaki maker is very ulu sia, who the hell sells them in a shopping mall… o.o (Let’s not count Tean’s suggestion for using a large pancake maker instead)

JM bought a random drink near the mall, with One Direction’s ‘One Thing’ MV and somebody singing ‘Koalaberry’ at a random stage performance. With this messy and ear-defeaning combination of music, ends the cycling outing! ^^

Should I sort of summarise the post a bit? If not, Triple town, I mean triple outing post, CLEAR! ^^
